Toy Story 4

Postby Atlinsmere » Fri Nov 7, '14, 5:49 am

Well. It seems like Disney decided they needed another Toy Story movie. And it's going to be directed by John Lasseter. Thoughts and opinions on the upcoming sequel to be released June 16, 2017?

I'm sort of glad they are making another one. Although I have never really watched any of the past movies completely through from beginning to end, I know from reading reviews, etc., that they have been very successful and almost everyone seems to like them, not just the younger kids. The characters have become well known and lovable for the most part. I just recently caught the last 30 minutes or so of a Toy Story event on TV (don't know if it was a movie or special or what) and it was funny and interesting to watch. Although 4 movies is getting to be a bit much for a series some might think but hey, just look at all the Harry Potter films.

There's a difference between Toy Story and Harry Potter, though, and it's that the latter was a book series before it was adapted to film (and the books are better than the films, though the films, as book adaptations go, aren't that bad overall). I'm not sure this comparison holds water for that reason. For my own views...well, the original Toy Story was definitely ground breaking with being the first fully-computer generated and animated film. And it was genuinely good. Second movie was alright too, but it just didn't quite have the charm the original did. I haven't seen the third, but something about resurrecting a franchise after a long hiatus just doesn't sit well with me, but I will withhold judgement until/unless I actually see it.

Other gaming goals: completing a Living Pokedex (minus some event Pokes) and going through at least 1 game per generation

My own personal thoughts basically can be summed down to one sentence. They ended the series off well in Toy Story 3. I'm not sure how I feel about Toy Story 4. It just seems like too much of a cash grab for me to care. I'll of course see it (eventually), but not in theaters and I most likely won't buy it (unless it is really good).
