RAMBO III

The third installment in the RAMBO series of films. In this installment, John Rambo must rescue his friend and mentor Colonel Sam Trautman from a terrorist organization in Afghanistan. This film is also the first instance to use the one liner "I'm your worst nightmare!". This installment features Bill Medley doing a cover of The Hollies' "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" as the main theme, and spawned two excellent video games based on it. An arcade game by Taito, and a console game for the Genesis/MegaDrive, which is a different game.

Love all the Rambo movies. Rambo III is probably the best one in the series other than the original first Rambo, in my opinion. Coincidentally, I just bought a paperback book copy of Rambo III yesterday at a sale. I have never read any of the Rambo books and usually don't like books that I have watched movies of as they are sometimes not the same but I thought hey why not try it anyway. I really had not even thought there were any Rambo books out there but guess I should have known there were. I am really looking forward to seeing the Rambo saga continue with Rambo V supposedly happening in the next year or so.

The first film in the series, First Blood was originally a novel written in the early 70's by David Morrell.

The "Rambo III" book I mentioned above also has David Morrell as author also. It also says on the front cover that it is "based on a screenplay written by Sylvester Stallone and Sheldon Lettich". I thought it interesting that in the author's note in this book it mentions that "in his book "First Blood" Rambo died but in the films Rambo lives" or something close to that. Uh oh, maybe I better not read that first book as I would be devastated if Rambo died. :( So glad they decided to keep it going.

Yeah, I heard Morrell had written the novelization of Rambo III as well.

I really like the Rambo movies, especially the first one since I am sold to action movies.

However, the last one that came out just a few years ago, I was not even able to watch to the end. I know Stallone wanted to make a point with this movie and I am aware that many parts of the world are at war and that war is a terrible idea, but while it is one thing to see fictional bad guys get comically mowed down by a minigun, seeing scared civilians explode for two hours just made me sick.

My two cents.

Aero, I would have to agree with you regarding the last Rambo movie. Although I have enjoyed them all to some extent, That last one is perhaps my least favorite of all the Rambo movies they have made so far. I certainly hope the next movie is better.

I never saw 2008's "Rambo" (the fourth film), but my older brother said it was good.

Thought I would just include this here instead of starting a new topic. I read the other day somewhere online that the title of the next newest upcoming Rambo movie may be called something like Rambo: Last Blood. That would make sense since the first movie was called First Blood. However, I don't think we'll know for sure until an official announcement is made somewhere. Still, I kind of hate to see the Rambo movies end but they have had a good run and must end somewhere I suppose.

I heard that the next Rambo film should it be made would be a prequel film focusing on Rambo's time in Vietnam.
