Resident Evil movies

Postby Silver_Surfer1 » Wed Sep 19, '12, 8:06 am

Anyone here a fan of the "Resident Evil" series of movies???

The latest in the series, "Resident Evil: Retribution", was recently released and seems to be doing very well, plus there seem to be plans for another follow up movie as well:

http://www.usatoday.com/life/movies/sto ... 57789488/1

I have just recently begun to watch some of these movies and I'm hooked. So far I have only seen the 3rd ("Resident Evil: Extinction") and the 4th ("Resident Evil: Afterlife") in the series, but definetly plan on watching the others asap.

Now, that I have become a fan of the movies....I'm beginning to wonder about the video game. Has anyone played any of the video games, and if so, what did you think of them??

Also, which movie(s) in the series is your favorite??

In regards to the movies, I liked the first one in terms of horror, but the second (Apocalypse) in terms of action. I disliked the third (Extinction) and the fourth one (Afterlife) was better though I disagree with bringing in the las plagas into the movies.

From the looks of the latest one, they're bringing back a bunch of dead people from the earlier films, but it does look interesting. Though depending on how this turns out, if it's anything like Extinction, I think they should just axe the series.

Also, I am a big fan of the RE game series. I have Resident Evil: Director's cut for Gamecube, Resident Evil 2 for N64, Resident Evil 4 for Gamecube, Resident Evil 5 collector's edition for PS3, someone stole my Code Veronica X for PS2. Also I preordered the collector's edition of Resident Evil 6, which set me back 98.99$ after tax. Can't wait for this one, it looks a lot better than 5.

Also, if you are a fan of the games, they did release a CGi animated movie called Resident Evil: Degeneration which I ended up buying, I got a shirt with it too which was cool. They are also making a sequel to Degeneration called Resident Evil: Damnation which looks awesome.

Sorry, I got kind of excited. I'll stop rambling now. :3

Hey Atlin...enjoyed reading your comments regarding the "Resident Evil" movies and games. :) Very interesting. I still have to watch the first and second movie and hope to do that soon. Glad to hear you have played some of the video games....now, if I ever give them a try and get stuck, I'll know who to call on for help.

I'll wait for Retribution to hit DVD, but I've seen the first four movies. I enjoyed the first one the most. It was more of a horror movie than an action movie, which helped it to shine as better than the sequels. I barely remember the second; I think I've only seen it once, maybe twice, and that's been years ago. I didn't like it too much, but that may be due to the switch from horror to action.

The third was okay, but the story felt disjointed. The action was decent enough, but it was hard to care about it thanks to rather bland characters. The fourth was definitely an improvement over that. It ranks as my current second favorite of the four. Better action scenes in characters in that one than the third, for sure.

Do you think someone who's never played any of the games (that's me!) would enjoy it? I keep seeing Degeneration every time I go looking for movies to watch, but I've always skipped over it so far. I'm pretty sure it's free to watch (legally, even) on Youtube and I know a local store has it fairly cheap.

Yeah, I think you should be able to enjoy it. A friend of mine never played any of the games and she enjoyed it. In the movie they refer a lot to Resident Evil 2, and it also serves as a bridge from Resident Evil 4, and Resident Evil 5.

Also if you really want to play the games, they recently released a Resident Evil Anthology with RE6, it includes Resident Evil 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Though expect to pay just under 100$ for it.

Read in the news yesterday that the upcoming Resident Evil movie to be called "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" is being postponed a bit because actress Milla Jovovich is pregnant:

I wonder if this might have some effect on her possibly being in the movie "The Expendabelles" also?? She will have probably already have had the baby by the time they begin work on that, I would think. Hope so anyway.

Also, I really hope this won't be the last "Resident Evil" movie. I know there have been several already and it's probably getting hard to come up with something new, but I really like those movies and have many of them on DVD.

Sad news regarding a stuntwoman in the "Resident Evil:Final Chapter" movie:

According to the article she was also in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens".

Sending best wishes for a good recovery for her.

Did anyone ever get to see the final movie in the "Resident Evil" series? If so, what did you think of it?

I have been noticing that one of the tv channels has been showing several of the "Resident Evil" movies during the last week or so. I caught a little of "Resident Evil: Apocolypse" one night. Did anyone else see them?

Haven't seen any of them in so long that I have almost forgotten them. Need to watch them all over again in order some time when I have the time to do so.

Well, the movie "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" has finally been released in theaters. Has anyone seen it yet?

I found an article on it which doesn't seem too favorable, but as always I wait until I see a movie and make up my own mind.

The article may have spoilers in it, so if you don't want to know, then don't read it.

I finally had time to sit down and watch the movie "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter" on DVD today. I thought it was a pretty good movie. Maybe a little less exciting as some of the previous "Resident Evil" movies, but I still liked it. If it is the last one, they did a good job of ending it. However, the way it ended, I thought they left the door open in case they wanted to do another one some day.
