I'm obsessing over S4 League once again. The S4 League service got moved to Aeria Games, and I chose not to import my account from the previous service, so I got a fresh new account that started from square one. Another run through the rookie ranks for me, yay. I can't tell you how many times I've done this.

I'd say obsess is a pretty strong word. I am however an incurable completionist and this is why I must stay away from MMOs. But when the completionism kicks in, I will spend insane amounts of time playing the game I currently focus on. Games like Tales of the Abyss, Lost Odyssey, Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne and Avatar Tuner, I will play until I have done pretty much everything. I can however become emotionally involved with certain games or characters and this could, to an extent, be considered obsession.

As for peripheral contents such as promos, various medias and fan-made material, I hardly ever bother. My focus is on the game and only on the game.

Absolutely. I'll put it like this…most of Naughty Dog's stuff never interested me. Jak & Daxter didn't grab me back in the day, thought I'm finding it decent now with the HD collection. I never got into Crash either - I always preferred Insomniac's Spyro. Don't care at all about Uncharted.

But I love The Last of Us.
Next Pokemon game(s): Pearl
Last finished Pokémon game: Shield
Other games: Skyrim Special Edition (Switch), Spyro Reignited Trilogy (Switch & PS4), Okami (Switch & PS4)
Other gaming goals: completing a Living Pokedex (minus some event Pokes) and going through at least 1 game per generation

Easy, Phantasy Star, will always be obsessed for life.

Other than that, sometimes I get obsessed with waifus, but hardly with the games themselves.

LOL, I just found out what a waifu was not too long ago. I think they could definitely be tied in with obsession.

Phantasy Star.
Castlevania.
Exile (Sega/Tg16)

Those 3 have earned tattoos that reference them as tribute.

I do like other series, but, not as much. Zelda comes close though.

Nice choices! I haven't played the Exile games, but I heard some music from the 2nd game in a video game music contest and it was amazing. And Castlevania is always awesome.

I love Dragon Quest! I import Japanese versions whenever I can (except for the 3DS ones that came out recently, because of region blocks). I also buy duplicate games when I need someone to trade with (since no one else here has those games). You can see my collection from 3 years ago in this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTqvUxoZi3U

I have a few more (Japanese) guide books now. I love them because of the data and the art. Western guides do not come with so much art as the Japanese ones.

I also have created some DQ fan art (the guide books really help as references for them).

I think I am some kind of pseudo-completionist inside the games. I know I rarely have the time to finish everything the game has, but I like to know I have not permanently missed anything, so I can still work towards it, even if it takes me years.

Even so, I am crazy enough about Dragon Quest that I won Nintendo's Ultimate Dragon Quest Super Fan Contest on 2011!

You can see my entry (of which the previous collection video was a part of) here:

For now, I am trying to play through the Phantasy Star classic games, and have also bought the 2 PSP games and Zero, for the DS. I may become a PS mini-phan in the future (I know the ultimate phan would be someone else, perhaps from this site).

I've already given the three major series that are the best for me, games series I'm obsessed over and they are now the 3 same ! Phantasy Star, Ace Attorney and Zero Escape ! But at last I've managed to finish the last of the zero escape, and still this serie is an ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE ! Hard to tell which serie is the best are they are both so different ! (but ZE and PW are more text based games)...and the PW serie isn't finished yet ! :)

The Fallout series for a very very long time. Obsessed to the point that I joined a community and had entire discussion about the lore, characters, what inspired the creators of the series. (well kind of like this place I guess)
I would not say that I ate or breathed Fallout at the time but it took an important place in my heart, just like Star Trek and Metroid did.

But alas, everything passes, like with Metroid and Star Trek my interest in this franchise has declined as well due to change of developer, design decisions and the focus of audience.
Like with Metroid and Star Trek, I still enjoy the older releases but I just can not get into the new material any more. (well in general everyone considers Metroid's last two releases to be terrible as well compared to the 2D series and the main Prime games)

Both sad but also frustrating as I find it difficult to direct myself at something new now I can be just as passionate about.
And I do want to find something new as I am tired of putting my attention in other old franchises.
