California water drought

Water seems to be very scarce and very much in demand in California where they are facing drought conditions:

From reading the article, this doesn't seem to be drinking water but rather water for crops, farms, etc. This could turn in to a dangerous situation. A few years ago the state I live in was also facing drought problems but after a few years of a lot of rain, I think we are in pretty good shape now. Summers seem to be getting much, much hotter though everywhere and a lack of water is not as surprising as it used to be.

Climate change is only going to be making this worse in the long haul. And since we grow so much food there, this could be detrimental to food supply and/or food prices.
