Found an interesting article regarding a classic favorite, Electronic Arts, and a possible come back for them:

I think FPS fans got burned pretty bad last year with Battlefield 4 and Call of Duty: Ghosts. I have not played either of them, but there seems to be a lot of negative feedback from the fans on both titles. Ghosts for not innovating, and Battlefield 4 for being a buggy mess of a game. Hopefully they get their act together for the next iterations of both series.

Blizzard almost always has something promising for their fans. The Diablo 3 expansion is coming out soon, and Warlords of Draenor is on the horizon for WOW fans. Hopefully they can get WOD out before the end of the year.

I'm a bit fed up with FPS nowadays.. I've played a lot of them but now I'm bored playing them ! Maybe I'll play them again later but for the moment...

I too have been taking a break from FPS games. Not really on purpose, but I have not played one in a long time.

I'm not big on the major competitive FPS games, like CoD, Battlefield, Halo, etc. I think the only FPS game I've played to the end is Portal (which is totally different from the above named trio), I've played some of Half-Life, and BioShock I'm playing in short bursts, and that story is keeping me interested far more than the gameplay. FPS just isn't my thing.

My BF is a big fan of Battlefield, though (for the multiplayer), and if he's an example, yeah, the Battlefield community feels pretty cheated on the buggy mess that is Battlefield 4. He has CoD: Ghosts, on PS4, and for what it is it seems okay, but also pretty short in the innovation category.
Next Pokemon game(s): Pearl
Last finished Pokémon game: Shield
Other games: Skyrim Special Edition (Switch), Spyro Reignited Trilogy (Switch & PS4), Okami (Switch & PS4)
Other gaming goals: completing a Living Pokedex (minus some event Pokes) and going through at least 1 game per generation

FPS WAS my thing but not anymore :) I've played (and LOVE the two bioshock games, which were some of thes bests video games I've ever played ! :) ) but I've changed and I think that it's the reason ! And like I'm only playing video games on handhelp consoles, there isn't a lot of FPS ^^
