No, I don't think you are. However, you are on last.fm friends list, and I have my facebook linked there. Or you can find me on the Fringes facebook page.

Reviving this topic because I just realized that in the next two weeks I'm seeing two bands! First is Sunday night, Anathema at the Middle East, which is a small venue in Cambridge, which often hosts smaller rock and metal acts. Anathema is hard to classify, and what genre they fall under really depends on what album you're talking about. But their latest release, Weather Systems, I think falls under the progressive rock category. I really hope they play that first song.

Second band is Katatonia on the 23rd, at Paradise Rock Club in Boston. I know nothing about this venue. But I do love the band, and I don't really think you can get doom metal any darker than Katatonia. And yet they have great progressive undertones and they're fantastic musicians.

I recently went to the Rob Zombie Mayhem Festival with my brother and his wife. I didn't like most of the bands, but I like Rob Zombie. We got there late and just snuck in to see his performance. It was pretty good. First concert I've been to in years.

Ugh, busy last few days with a three-day intensive residential for one of my courses. But I still managed to make the Anathema show! It was fantastic - they played 2 of 3 songs I was reeeeeeeeeeally hope they'd play, including the opening track of Weather Systems. Naturally, got a t-shirt. And here are the pictures of the show. This would've been a difficult one to miss, as this is the first time Anathema has headlined a tour stateside (they are from the UK).

But...still not up there with Gojira!

And Katatonia next Monday.

Double posting because Katatonia was yesterday! Man oh man, were these guys TIGHT. I think I have to rate them as the third best show I've been to, behind Sabaton and of course, Gojira, which I doubt will ever be surpassed. >_> Katatonia was on par with the last Sonata Arctica show I was at back in December. Tight, awesome setlist (YAY Ghost of a Sun and Parting), good crowd, well designed venue, everything.

And the photo album. Stage was dark most of the time, which is befitting to Katatonia, but I managed to get a good amount. A few are of their opener, Cult of Luna, which was decent, but sludge metal gets too same-y after a while to me. But final verdict, yeah, I'd see Katatonia again, given the chance.
