Alis' Choice

Quest for justice and vengeance with the beginning of the saga.

Alis' Choice

Postby Neithird » Tue Jul 10, '07, 10:22 pm

At the end of PS1, Alis gets a choice - to become Queen or not. What do you think she chose, and why? If you were in her position, would you choose to become ruler?

I believe Alis would have turned it down, or only accepted on a temporary basis. She left the star system later and that doesn't seem like something a ruler would do.

I don't think I would choose to take the throne. Politics is not for me. ;)

I'd prefer to think she turned it down. Monarchy would just be another form of absolute rule. After all that fighting against a corrupt king, I'd hope she'd see the folly in that type of government and instead form a republic.

I think she stayed for awhile but then probably ended up leaving it to Odin or someone she trusted and left Algo with Noah

If Alis had chosen to be queen, then wouldn't that make Rolf a prince since he's of the Landale bloodline? This reasoning makes me believe that she turned down the offer to accept the throne, since Rolf wasn't royalty or anything...from what I know of, anyways. :D

Well, I doubt the same family could remain in power over a thousand years.

I think she accepted, but like Kaloes I don't think she stayed in the office very long. Becoming Queen would give her a lot of leverage in creating a new form of government, if she chose to do that.

If Alis had chosen to be queen, then wouldn't that make Rolf a prince since he's of the Landale bloodline?

Rolf would be a prince anyway, because Alis' father was King. By Rolf's time, no one but Lutz knows there is a survivor of the bloodline, so it doesn't count for much in Rolf's case.

Such a great hero would never accept, not forever, anyway, she'd all be the super protector forvever! XD
Everything has a pattern. Something set. Even random things. They aren't random at all, its complex mathematics. The trick is to find the pattern. Then you can exploit it.

People think things have a certain end. Taxes. Work. Due dates don't really exist. Trust me. When you put a band of world scholars in the same room, and set them on talking about anything, the most interesting topics come up. The existence of negative time. The probability of "random occurrence". The government's involvement in the media. And falsified due dates. They aren't real, trust me....

Are you kidding me? Who could resist the call of the "All I got was this lousy T-shirt" T-Shirt?!?!

Sure, it doesnt give that much defense bonuses, but it's a great novelty item and looks great at social gatherings! Why become queen when you could get the shirt?

If you think about it, in the future (notably PS IV) they only refer to her as a heroine, so maybe she turned down the offer to be Queen.... but the Phanta 4 citizens aren't really reliable sources, so who knows.

I think that making her the heiress of the throne only made the game's main message weaker. I'd rather not have that question at the end of the game, because it was thrown in the mix like "we need to give Alis a reward for her effort" (much like Rika to Chaz). With her being the heiress, it gives the impression of her being some kind of "chosen one" and have other motivations besides fighting to avenge her brother's death and carrying his mission of overthrowing the evil tyrant.
