The $100 bill is getting a new look or makeover:

The new bill will come into circulation in Feb. 2011.

It looks like they have made over or given new looks to other bills already, except for the $1 bill.

What does everyone think of these new looks?

Do you like the old or the new better?

As long as it's money and able to be spent, I really don't care how it looks. :wink:

Its really not a new look if you think about it.. All they do is add a bigger 100 printed into the bill. Their making it look alot like japanese cash from what I can tell.

The review says that they are trying to keep ahead of counterfiters, but there will always be ways for people to copy money. Sure this will buy the government a few months but afterwards people who make fake money will already be ahead of the game.

Yes, I agree with you there. I think it's a never ending cycle kind of thing. When they come up with something new, people will figure out how to overcome it, then they will come up with something newer, and so on, and so on. But atleast, it's something that might help a little bit for now.

Canadian money =P
However the holographic strip on the 20, 50, and 100s are also on our 5's and 10's.

The space beside the number on the bill, if you lift it up or place a light under it, you can see a face there, and the semi random lines become the value of the bill.

Thus meaning if it ever started raining money here in Canada, everyone would be going for the brown bills. =P

Very interesting, Atlinsmere! Who are all those people pictured on the Canadian money? Of course, I do recognize The Queen on the $20, but I don't believe I know the rest of them.

Seeing as how you're interested, this is how it goes.

Five dollar bill - Sir Wilfred Laurier, who was Canada's first French-Canadian Prime Minister.

Ten dollar bill - Sir John A. MacDonald, Canada's first Prime Minister.

Twenty dollar bill - Queen Elizabeth the Second, Canada's current monarch and Head of State.

Fifty dollar bill - Former Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King, Canada's fearless leader during World War II.

Hundred dollar bill - Former Prime Minister Robert Borden, who fearlessly signed the papers when Britain demanded Canada send troops to fight in World War One.

I had to research for some of them for both who they were and why they are on the bill. But yes, this is it.

Fun fact, Canada once used to have twenty-five cent, one dollar, two dollar, four dollar, twenty-five dollar, five hundred dollar, and even one thousand dollar bills.

Well, it is 2 years late, but the new $100 bill will be available in October:

They've made a lot of new security features to this new bill. It will be interesting to see if it works.

The old bills will still be around in circulation for awhile but will be gradually destroyed.
