Dr Mad annoys me...

Or rather, they way the character was completely changed in Generation 1 annoys me. I just reached and defeated him in the game yesterday. This is the first aspect of the remake that has really disappointed me.

His design is completely different. Now he looks like a cross between an android and some kind of insect, all wearing a beret and a lab coat. He's got four eyes that remind me of a spider or insect. His right hand is a claw and to attack, he fires this claw at someone and retracts it. In his other hand, he's holding a round beaker (what, he fights during an experiment or something? ). Sometimes he'll turn it over to pour out this green liquid that poisons the party.

And worst of all, when you fight him Myau sits out that battle. You don't get a choice about it like in the original, it's just automatic. Grrr! I really wish I could read the text there, because it looks like Myau or another musk cat is suspended in a tube in the background of the battle. The atmosphere makes me wonder if there's a direct connection to the Nei series research.

I really wish they had kept the old design. Even if the missile-in-chest was quite unrealistic, it was better than the Claw of Not So Much Destruction.

I'd have to see it for myself to make any comments. However, it does sound pretty weird. I'm not surprised, though, since in remakes they tend to change things (sometimes for the worse, like the majority of PSII's character designs). :D

Here are some screenshots. It looks like both of his hands are claws actually, which makes me wonder how he was able to do any experiments at all.

A second examination of this reveals two cats suspended in tubes. It's impossible to make out if either is Myau, but at the very least Dr. Mad was experimenting on one or more other musk cats as well.

I'm a bit confused these pictures all show pretty much the same thing, on is him standing, then a close up, then an attack?
Everything has a pattern. Something set. Even random things. They aren't random at all, its complex mathematics. The trick is to find the pattern. Then you can exploit it.

People think things have a certain end. Taxes. Work. Due dates don't really exist. Trust me. When you put a band of world scholars in the same room, and set them on talking about anything, the most interesting topics come up. The existence of negative time. The probability of "random occurrence". The government's involvement in the media. And falsified due dates. They aren't real, trust me....

I don't think he looks that different from before except being more detailed. His hands were claw-like in the original too.

While I do prefer the original version, I don't see much difference either.

Okay, I see what you mean now after seeing 'im. o_o He's...well, when I first saw him, I imagined him with a french accent (must be the beret :p).

Dr. Mad: "Oui, oui! I'll be taking zat specimen and shall perform zee experimentz upon him!" *clicks metal claws*
Alis: *whispers* "Hey Odin, he reminds me of a deranged lobster..."
Odin: *snorts* Hahaha, a lobster man! *points*
Dr. Mad: "Lobster man!?" *clicks claws furiously* "Zat iz it! I'll have my revenge!"
Myau: "Err, Alis, he's kind of creepy so I'll let you guys handle this..." *runs away from the battle scene*

I always saw the hands of the original as being more human like, but this incarnation's look much colder and inhuman. Plus they have the launching and retracting bit, which is different for the character. His head looks a lot different (most especially in the speaking portrait).

Btw, great signature Tsunami. :D
