One thing that you need to do with TV shows is the "three-episode test," where you watch three episodes before passing judgement on a series. And the show I've given that test to is
Copper, a show starring Tom Weston-Jones as Kevin Corcoran, an Irish detective in Five Points, New York during 1864. Why is this show awesome? Because Corcoran's corrupt as all hell and still manages to be the good guy.
What's so awesome about this show? All kinds of things! Bare-knuckle old-time boxing matches, brutal fist fights, gun fights ("Surviving Death" and "La Tempete" have awesome ones), a Confederate plot to destroy New York, political intrigue, and the most hilarious double-homicide investigation ever.
