dialogue glitch

Postby Arctic-snowfox » Sun Jun 17, '12, 6:05 am

well there i was walking out of shure, i collecting enough messeta for 4 ceramic knives, when i pressed the speak button/interact button. and the dialogue came up and stuck to the background, allowing me to walk right through it but the blue box is still there.
it sure shocked me. i moved till it went offscreen and it had dissapeared.

On which machine did you play the game ? Strange glitch it is but that's not the first and surely not the last about "ancient" games...;)

Huh, I haven't heard of that one before. I'm also curious as to which version of the game you were playing.

But you just told us the version as now we know it's on PS3 or Xbox 360, and especially Sega Megadrive Collection ! :) I've got the same game but on my xbox 360 ;) But I can't see where the problem come from ... :(

Hm, interesting. I suspect it would be some kind of bug in the controller mapping, then. I might investigate that on the Xbox version sometime.

I think I know the glitch you're talking about, so I took a photo of it. Is this it?

If so, then I've actually ran into it tons of times. It happens whenever you keep tapping the speak/interact button while leaving an area. I'm not an expert or anything, but what I think happens is that the game tries to load the "Nothing unusual here" message into the current town/dungeon/overworld, but since you're leaving the area, the message somehow gets loaded into the area you enter next.

I don't think button mapping has anything to do with it since I've tested it on the iPhone version (which has virtual ABC buttons) as well as Sega Genesis Collection (with the controls set to ABC mode) and the glitch worked on both of them. I don't have the original cartridge so I can't try it on that.
