Although it is a little late this year, the time has arrived to celebrate the Easter holiday with our third annual Easter Egg Hunt community event! Once again, many icons have been hidden throughout the site for community members to find. This year, we are going to do some things a little differently, so be sure to read on learn more!
The Egg Hunt works like this: a bunch of icons, styled with a combined theme of Easter and Phantasy Star, have been scattered around the Fringes of Algo web site for members to find. You can see these icons only while logged in and during the duration of this event. If you should find an icon, you can click on it to claim it. When you claim an icon, you will unlock a matching Achievement that will appear in your member profile. There is a separate Achievement for each icon and each year of the event. Icons you have claimed will also disappear from your view of the site.
So, what is different this year? There are two major changes in this Easter Hunt. First, those who participated in past hunts may recall that there are normal thirty themed icons hidden on the site. Well, not this time. This time, there are fifty icons! The 30 Easter Eggs from the past two years have returned, but this time they are joined by 20 additional Rappy icons. Rappies come in yellow, blue, gray, pink, and red colors.
The second change is that five of the icons are going to behave like those in the first year of the Easter Hunt. For those that don't recall, during the first year each icon could be claimed by only one member. Once an icon was claimed by one person, no one else could see or claim it. Five of the Rappy icons, one for each color, are special King Rappies. These five King Rappy icons can be claimed only by one member and will disappear for everyone after they are claimed, just like the first year's Easter icons. Since they can only be claimed once, King Rappies are hidden very well and may be the most difficult to find. That big pink rappy you see up above is an example of King Rappy, but the actual hidden icons are not that large.
Please do not share the locations of icons with others. Every member is able to find and claim each icon (except the King Rappies, of course). Please allow everyone to fully enjoy the event by searching for the icons and earning the Achievements independently. If I have reason to suspect that someone has cheated their way into finding icons, they may be disqualified from this and future community events. You are welcome to boast when you find an icon, of course. Just don't say where you found it.
Some of the icons will be easy to find, while others are well hidden and may be very difficult to locate. They could be anywhere, even in parts of the site you've never visited before now! Keep your eyes peeled!
This year's Easter Hunt will begin at 12 AM Eastern Time on Friday, April 20th and end at 12 AM Eastern Time on Wednesday, April 25th. The icons will be visible on the site only during that time period and only to logged in members. The start time may be delayed by a couple of minutes, as I have to flip a switch manually at the appointed time to trigger the icon display.
Happy hunting and have a great weekend!
