Shatner's birthday

Happy Birthday to actor William Shatner (Captain Kirk in "Star Trek") who turns 80 today.

:cake: :proposetoast:

Quick, everyone, what's your favorite William Shatner role?

A. Captain Kirk in "Star Trek"?
B. T.J. Hooker in "T.J. Hooker"?
C. Denny Crane in "Boston Legal"
D. "My Dad Says"
E. Priceline Spokesman
F. Other

Hard to believe that he's 80, but he certainly hasn't let age slow him down at all.

80 is older than I would have thought for him. In some ways, it doesn't seem like that much time has gone by. I read earlier that Leonard Nimoy's 80th birthday is in just a few days, too.

For a favorite role, I'd have to say Kirk. That's just a classic, plain and simple. The Priceline commercials are usually pretty funny, too.

Priceline Negotiator! Always entertaining, but his all time best role, to me, is as Captian James T. Kirk, and later as Admiral James T. Kirk.

Found this very startling article related to William Shatner at this year's Comic Con where it seems to say that Shatner doesn't consider himself a success, and that "It's always eluded me trying to find success":

That's surprising to read. IMHO, he has to be one of the most successful people in, and out, of showbusiness and the entertainment field period. He's done it all....TV, Movies, Music, Books, Commercials, and so many other things, and been quite good at it all. His face is instantly recognizable to almost anyone in the world.

Everyone has different opinions of what success means to them. I guess Shatner may have some things he's always wanted to do, but still be unable to accomplish for some reason or another. He's certainly had some measure of success, but there's always another challenge to overcome down the road.
