PSII - If they survived...

Assuming for a moment that Rolf and his friends escaped from Noah alive after fighting the Earthmen, what do you think happened to the group after that? Could they have returned to Motavia and lived safely, given that they had been named as fugitives?

Motavia, no, but they might have lived on Dezolis. Rika points out that some of the worldships from PSII/PSIII landed on Motavia and Dezolis, and Rolf and the others might have moved on to one of their just-forming villages.

Hell, Kyra just might be Rolf's great-great-great-great-great-(...)-great-granddaughter.

Shir: You know, Rolf, when we made that decision to start a family, you never said that one day one of our descendants was going to fight the Profound Darkness.
Rolf: (sweatdrops) I... didn't know, actually.
Hugh: And she's my descendant, too. (Insert technical explanation of how Hugh and Amy's great-grandson eventually winds up marrying Rolf and Shir's great-granddaughter)
Rolf: ...That was the most convoluted explanation I've ever heard.

 That reminds me of when I used to do family history research. Convoluted is a great word for it!

I always thought Chaz might be Rolf's descendant, but Kyra does have the attitude and hair color for that combo!

Snorb's explanation makes a little too much sense. :o And for that reason, I like the idea of Kyra being the long-lost Landale. Though, really, there's no explanation for Kyra's last name to change to Tierney unless they wanted to keep their profiles low.

I think there's no way they went back to Motavia. If they had, surely they would have never allowed continued research on the Numans and the building of Daughter.

Kyra as Rolf's grandkid? I like it! :D I could see Rolf wanting to stick around the mansion for a while to learn more about his family.

Kyra could have gotten the Tierney name from one of her other ancestors, or from someone earlier in the line that wanted to hide their connection to Alis. Even Rolf didn't use Landale as a name during the game.

Yay, something I typed actually made logical sense! ^_^

The Complex Explanation: One of Rolf's descendants changed their name to Tierney to hide from Mother Brain. Doesn't really make much sense, because Mother Brain's dead, and I doubt that anyone would still be searching for the party decades afterwards.

The Much Simpler Explanation: Rolf had a female descendant, and she married someone named Tierney.

That's what I would go with as well. It makes the most sense to me.

Instead of Mother Brain, how about to hide their legacy from the other Espers? By PSIV, Esper Mansion is covered in Alis Landale statues. Being a Landale and living in the Mansion might bring about some undesired hero worship from the other Espers.

Except the Army Eyes would have most likely been deactivated by the destruction of Mother Brain. That and Kyra won't be born for another 982 years unless you're referring to someone who happens to have the same name. Plus going back to Mota for an extended period of time strikes me as a bad idea.

I'm not that sure that the Army Eyes (or droids in general) would have been deactivated with the destruction of MB. First of all, they seemed to be controlled from Palma (they went berserk and out of control after its destructions). Surely MB could have been the ultimate controller. But we see droids in PSIV, long after MB is dead. It's possible that were still functioning subsystems (comparable to Seed) which still controlled parts of the droids. That being said I find it highly unlikely that they had been captured by droids formerly belonging to MB.

As for Kyra/Rolf. Of course she *could* be a descendant from Rolf. There are thousand years in between and we know nothing of Rolf's lineage. The surename Landale might have been lost during the ages in Kyra's ancestors families. Much likely the same happened to Rolf. He didn't use the surname Landale, most possibly because no one remembered it anymore after a thousand years. Of course I also like the possible explanation of Kyra's family changing the name during the ages to keep a low profile. Rolf probably wasn't popular after the destruction of MB (imagine you suddenly had to fight for survival while before life was just one lazy past time occupation), so being called Landale could have made you a target for rotten apples or worse.

I guess we will never know unless the creator's of Phantasy Star fill in the blanks for us. In the meantime, I love all the theories PS fans can come with. :D
