I think too that ability is not genetical, but in the other hand, if it was genetical and they can transform, it was be cool!!

I did! Poor Wren, the narrator disrespects him all the time.

I thought that I was just over-thinking things like I always do..
Searren (Wren) usually doesn't get that much affection...Mieu's a girl. It might just be me, but it's pretty obvious that Wren's a guy...unless Algol has trannies.

Somewhere (one of the fan books or translations, maybe), I think it's said that while Mieu was designed to be very similar to humans in both appearance and mental/emotional capacity, Wren-types were supposed to be little more than machines following orders. (One could argue, however, that Siren has a distinct personality, I guess.) Wren does have a masculine face, but the rest of him is all mechanical. I agree that it's not nice of the narrator to refer to Wren as "it", but maybe I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and believe that they're highlighting the fact that he wasn't really designed to be a "person".

Back on topic, I'm sure most (if not all) of us have read The Thea Theories by now, in which it's theorized that Ryan had the ability to turn into a dragon. Other than that, I think it would be pretty awesome if Thea or Sean could do it, too. Maybe when someone finally remakes the game in a hundred years or so, the Dragon Knight gene could be incorporated somehow...

Actually, I do not think that is disrespectful. He is a cyborg. I actually think it is appropriate. Still, the translators have not done this on all levels and it those give a rather odd vibe when it is only referred to him as "it" once or tops a few times. And, before any Wren fans kill me, I like him too. I just always saw him and Mieu as machines. Very alike humans in their way mind you, but still controlled by an AI. You see some of that in my fanfiction here at fringes. :) (Hm, this might be a subject of its own...?)

Anyway Dragon Knights (DK). I think this would be a genetic trait. I think it would be rather hard to "train" on how to morph you physical appearance into something that is actually larger than your human form. Yet it is a puzzle that Lyle's heirs do not possess his ability. Still, maybe Lyle did something. He was blessed by the divine or made a pact with Darkforce to attain the power. If he was desperate about finding Maia I can see him going that way.

Well, the term cyborg implies that Wren is a person with mechanical parts. I always thought of Mieu and Wren as having been real people with robotic limbs or such. Calling Wren an "it" while making that claim gave me the impression that the narrator was prejudiced against cyborgs. ;)

Granted we now know that Wren is really an android and it's all a result of the localization inconsistencies. When I was playing the game for the first few times, I didn't have that benefit, though.

Is that the definition of cyborg? I don't mean to be rude I am just thinking out loud. I have yet to look up the word. Anyway if it is I agree. In that case the cyborg is a person, whilst a robot or similar is an "it". :)

Update:

I checked it the word cyborg on wikipedia's dictionary. The result is as follows:

Noun

cyborg (plural cyborgs)

1. (science fiction) a person who is part machine, a robot who is part organic
2. (science fiction) a robot who has an organic past

As I read it this is bit like the chicken and the egg. What came first? The person whom is now a robot or the robot that has now organic parts? If the person was indeed the first part I think the term "it" is a bit faulty as that entity is at least in part a she or he. Yet I do notice that I am getting rather existential here. :D

Hm, those definitions are interesting. I can't recall ever seen "cyborg" used as a reference to a robot that gained organic parts, but I can see how it might work. It reminds me of a scene in a Star Trek movie. I suppose the game's use of "it" would be open to individual interpretation, then.

For my personal experience, I tend to think of the term as I was introduced to it in other media - comic books and TV - where human characters' limbs were amputated following an accident and replaced with robotic parts. So to me, cyborg will always mean a person with mechanical additions.

Yes, whereas I have always thought of Mieu and Wren in a more robotic sense or perhaps android is a better word. Yet as you mentioned Star Trek, I think they are a bit like Data.
