Yeah, that's got to be the rarest of the rare PS books. I haven't seen one come up for sale in years. I've always wished I had the means to get one of those back when they were available.

I'm on a lead to get the PSIII Character Book finally. I don't know how this will all work out. Maybe it will end up in failure. But it's the first time since I began collecting Phantasy Star items that I've got even a tiny chance to have the book. I'll come back to you with more news on the matter. But it may take a while...

*victory fanfare song*

Well, patience can really reward us sometimes. Now I can finally tell about my lead for the PSIII unofficial artbook.

It was 2 whole months ago (August 6 to be precise). While in search for the book, I was really down that it was never on sale anywhere. The only 2 places I know where we could see people owning this book were 2 well known Phantasy Star site. One was phantasystar.org and the other one was camineet.net . The first one, there was not an address to contact the guy...but the second one...Well I took a wild chance, and send an email, thinking it will never came back, asking if he could help me get the book.

1 whole month later...I received an email from Mike. He was actually willing to sell the book. We did a little negociation, but between each of my reply, it was taking a long time for him to reply back...to a point where I lost hope...But a few minutes ago, I received the last confirmation email, with all the pics I asked, paypal address, and the big ok (except he will still be away until mid-october, so I'll have to wait again before the actual shipping...but at this point, I'm just happy that its finally concluded).

So that's it, 2 months after my first email, I finally paid for the book, and now I just need to wait for it to get home. I'm just SOOOOOO happy!!!

And here's the pictures of the book.

Really good condition, isn't it? A really big thanks to him for passing on to me this rare precious gem in Phantasy Star!!!

Sweet mother of awesome! That's nice. I am so looking forward to seeing what's inside. I might finally have a resource for drawing some PS III characters. :D

Don't worry. I'm not asking you to massacre the book. Just allow us to see inside. :p

Congrats, this is a great find. To see how it is difficult to get this book, you had to buy from one of the two guys who mentioned they did own the book...

I wonder what may have happened to copies of the book that were not sold at the time by Toyo Ozaki's site. Maybe she has lots of copies and just doesn't know that there are many people who'd like to buy them.

Me too. Before contacting Mike, I tried to find any way to contact Toyo Ozaki. But like her site, her email address is dead, and bounce back to us. If anyone manage to find a way to contact her, it would be great to let others know, if she still has copy of the book with her to sell.

A few years ago I managed to track down what I think was her husband's web site. I don't recall the address and don't seem to have a bookmark for it now, though. It was focused on some other game series and entirely in Japanese. There was a little mention of Phantasy Star, but I don't recall seeing anything about her book.

Wow, how come you knew it was her husband website? Is it public knowledge :) Nevertheless, I would like to see this site, for curiosity about which other game series we're talking about (and maybe to know if she's still doing game arts)
