Phantasy Star III - Lost & Found

I just finished a little write-up on all the things in the PSIII ROM that don't appear in the game. Well, at least everything that's been found so far:

I think the most interesting one is the "Kara boss" - if anyone can do a better job reassembling & recoloring the sprite I'd be thrilled to post the image.

The unused shops are intriguing because they could imply that another town was planned but scrapped.

That’s interesting kudos to your for putting Kara together  . I wonder why Sega wanted to remove her boss scenario all together. :?

Very interesting details! I have to wonder if boss Kara isn't really Alair. Since the boss data is unused, they might have changed the character's name from Kara to Alair after the boss was made and discarded. We know that there is artwork of Alair with a slicer, and she does look a lot like that sprite if you adjust the colors a bit.

The time Nial meets Alair would make for a good mini-boss fight. That would make for a good parallel to Rhys' adventure. The similarity to Sari is obvious from the stats, but let's not forget that Rhys had a mini-boss, too. If the game had been fully finished, I bet we would have seen mini-bosses in every generation.

Is there any chance that the Skeleton and Spectre enemies might have different sprites than the Wraith? I've noticed that in PSI, the skeleton family aren't just palette swaps; they have different shield designs. I doubt that would have carried over to PSIII with the different design team, but it would be a nice touch if it did.

I remember one time seeing a perfect picture of the Kara battle sprite, I'm not sure if Tsunami was the one who showed it to me, or if it was one of my other PSO:BB friends that showed it to me. I'll have to see if I can find any of them and see if they still have the image.

Very unlikely, no other enemy groups are like that.

I agree - maybe even another in the 3rd generation, the fight against Rulakir is so late it would have been nice to have another in the middle.

Please do :) I'm sure it looks better than the one I pieced together.

Alair: Thanks for saving me, but I'm afraid that as a Layan, I have no choice but to try to hack you to pieces with this here slicer.
Nial: But...But...
Alair: On guard!

*later on*

Nial: Will you marry me, Alair?
Alair: I'd thought you never ask.
Nial: (confused) Uh...what? First I saved you, then you tried to kill me, and now you were EXPECTING ME TO PROPOSE???
Alair: Uh-huh. Old Layan mating ritual. Works every time!
Nial: Uh...duh...er...wha--
Alair: *dragging Nial by the arm* Come, let's break the news to everybody.
*H-Man as Chaz, looks at Rika, aka Paula* Chaz-Man- "Hey, I've been wandering around Motavia for quite a while with you now. It says in that weird blue box up there that one more battle with a sandworm and we can level up to husband and wife!"

Hahaha, that would make Alair the greatest PS character ever... kicking the butt of the hero :p
