From the picture in the article, I can see how the case design would bring a lightsaber hilt to mind. I don't think it's fair of Lucasfilm to cite independent blogs as "proof" that there is an infringement on their concept, but ignoring the cease-and-desist letter is a bad idea. Lucasfilm may not let the matter drop. If they do feel the need to protect their legal stance as the owner of the lightsaber hilt design, they probably will take aggressive action.

More Star Wars news. It seems the actor who played the original Darth Vader in the early triology of "Star Wars" movies has now been banned by George Lucas from future official "Star Wars" coventions, gatherings, etc.

I don't know what the reason for this is, but it seems kind of harsh to me. Possibly not fair to the fans also who might wish to meet this actor. Hard to believe The guy is 75 years old now. Time passes fast.

Eh, there must be some pretty deep offense there that hasn't been revealed yet. If the actor really didn't get his fair share of payment from the films, I think he would have sued for it by now. But he apparently hasn't done so. I think there's a lot more to this than meets the eye.

Honestly, it's really starting to make me see George Lucas in a whole new light. I understand for the laser how it resembles the hilt and what not, but banning Darth Vader. Seriously? Well, I'm sure, as Thoul said, there is something deeper into this which we'll most likely see within the next few months or so.

......
It's official. Lucas is a....I can't think of a nice way of putting it. But I'm deeply outraged.

The 'Laser' thing alone got me annoyed, seeing as how it was borderline infringement in my eyes.
But to ban the original actor who portrayed Vader from Cons? That's just absurd! Lucas better either give us a legitimate reasoning, or undo the damage.

And while he's at it, give us another Star Wars product that's actually worth our time.

It seems to be a summer of Star Wars lawsuits. Lucasfilm has filed another infringement lawsuit, this time targeting a company that makes computer applications controlled by thought patterns. The problem? The company calls itself "Jedi Mind," in a reference the the Jedi mind trick from the Star Wars movies. Lucasfilm wants $5 million in damages.

To their credit, Lucasfilm did give the company a proper chance to change their name, but the company didn't make it happen.

Golly, another lawsuit. These folks sure are keeping busy sueing everybody. On one hand I can see their point, but on the other hand, I wonder if they are taking this just a little too far. Atleast they gave them a chance to change the name. Can't for the life of me figure out why they didn't do it. It seems like the smart thing to do in a case like this.

Some "Star Wars" news. All 6 "Star Wars" films will be rereleased in 3-D, beginning with "The Phantom Menace", probably sometime in 2012.

Sometimes I get the feeling that these classic films will be around forever in one way or another, and rightly so!

I guess we can expect a lot of movies to get conversions like this. Personally, I'd rather have a new Star Wars movie instead of a rehash with some new special effect added.

Please, no more, show some mercy Mr. Lucas. I thought the original movies were all perfect the way they were. Every time he changes them it feels like Michael Jackson going in for another nose job - no matter how many times he changes them he never seems to be done.

I have no doubt they'll make a fortune though.
