Poor Ryan, he just disappears from the game completely. There's pretty much only one accessible surviving Layan place at the end of Nial's quest. That's Lune's moon, so perhaps Ryan returned there to make sure Lune lead their people well.

I've always believed in my own head that the Layans of Aquatica did the same thing in Nial's quest that they did in Ayn's; we just don't get to see it. So, the people of Cille and Shusoran evacuate to the western cave in Aridia and have plans to find Azura no matter which son of Rhys you're playing.

Wouldn't the people of Shushoran and Cille be in the cave then, during Nial's quest? And is Nial able to go into the cave during the 2nd generation? Interestingly you can visit Aridia, but not Aquatica, since Lune's guards block the Laya Palace to reach Aquatica from Landen.

Not necessarily, since Nial's and Ayn's adventures take place in different years, I think. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Nial's quest take place before Ayn's?

I think Nial's quest begins when he's 18, and Ayn's when he's 15. So, Ayn's would start first, if their parents had them early in their marriage and there isn't long intervals. I don't have the years of their births.

Perhaps most of the residents were killed by Siren (who, in Sage Isle, makes the confession to attacking many Layans, at least to the Adan/Aron generations). Maia may have then been taken to Draconia, where Lyle rescued her. Lyle then probably tampered with the Weather Control system, and fled back to Aquatica with Maia.

Think about it. Siren can't get to Cille without the sandbar. He also doesn't have the subparts, which, as far as we know, is the only other way to cross water. Lyle, however, can fly. Disabling the sandbar enables their isolation, and consequently, safety.

That's a good possibility, but I think their isolation would have been their deaths. Siren's army of robots includes airborne units, and I think Tsunami mentioned the robots crossing the sea. Still, I don't think Nial not seeing the Aquatica Layans in the western cave means they didn't evacuate their homeland. They could have evacuated through Draconia and already found Azura.

There are certainly a lot of possibilities as to what happened to Shusoran and Cille, huh? Maybe some of the residents fled to Agoe and Rysel and posed as Orakians. After all, by that time the Orakians and Layans of Aquatica were at peace with each other. Maybe they'd already begun inter-marrying with each other well before Nial's or Ayn's quests begin, anyway, and they covertly fled to their families in Agoe and Rysel.

Regarding why the sandbar disappeared... it doesn't appear until the satellite control system is fixed so it likely appears due to the tides caused by the moon Azura. Azura is destroyed in Sean's generation which would explain the absence of the sandbar there. In the other three 3rd generation quests there is no reason to visit Azura so perhaps it was intended to have been destroyed in all the storylines.

Ah, I like this answer. It seems to satisfy my curiosity. Thanks, Hugues.

Tanith, I think you and Tsu are right on about the flying robots. I checked in Agoe, and one soldier in the throne room says, "Cyborgs have been seen crossing the sea." This would explain why not a soul is in sight in Shushoran - they're probably... dead (or, blended in, in other towns).

Do they define how old Sean is when Azura is destroyed?

I should check to script to be sure, but I think for Sean they just say something generic like "when Sean reaches manhood."
