I've always used Rolf, Rudo, Kain and Anna, because I like to play all offensive and leave the healing duties to itens, like trimates and star mist. Anna is great with the slicers against large groups and can use trimates safely to heal, since her agility is great. Kain is useful at those enemies who have big defenses, so him and Rudo wipe out these foes. I've never had huge problems with this party.

Kain can supposedly harm enemies on Noah with his techs. *shrug* Never bothered to check that out for myself since I was never adventurous with the game. :3

Anyways, I always had Rolf, Nei (swap her with Anna when she dies), Rudo, and Amy. Rolf for obvious reasons, Nei for obvious reasons, and Rudo because he was a tank. Between Anna and Amy, Anna was great for her slashers and Amy was the healer. It's a typical party, but I never change it up too much when I get attached to characters. =p

Rolf, Nei, Rudo, Anna.

You can keep Nei with the moon dew trick. Someone on PSDB did it a few years ago. I think it took Nei not taking a hit or any kind when revived..

I still have the savestate somewhere from my playthrough.

If I can get Nei to stay, I use her.. if Not..

PreNeifirst:

Rudo, Rolf, Nei, Amy

Post NeiFirst:

Rudo, Rolf, Anna, Kain

Dezo:

Rudo, Rolf, Anna, Amy

Don't need Amy's healing if you use dimates. :d

I tried that on every PSII version I have and I couldn't get it to work. I did one time have Nei run from the battle with Neifirst and it acted like she won the fight and the place exploded. But she still died.

Sorry to bump a slightly old topic (ok, may 26th wasn't that long ago) but I thought I'd just pitch in anyway.
When I'm levelling anyone up, like Hugh or Shir, I just stick them in there with Rolf, Rudo and Amy. Though most times my party consists of Rolf, Rudo, Amy and Anna. I'm sure you'd see why, being the right combination of healing and hitting stuff. :p Plus Amy is actually fairly decent at hitting stuff if she's not working as a trimate factory.

I always go with Rolf, Rudo, Amy, and Shir. I realize the end game would be easier with Anna but I tend to stick with Shir because you have to level her up anyway (unless you're brave enough to try winning without the Visiphone).

Has anyone used Hugh's Vol successfully against Dark Force? I've never tried, because I'm afraid it won't work, and then I've wasted a round. That's not a good thing, with everyone suffering from greed, loss of confidence and whatever else Dark Force does to freeze your party.

I've never thought to try it out. I have a save at that point though so I'll see if Hugh is up to scratch and give it a shot.

Nope, didn't seem to work. Either that or I was very unlucky.

Follow-up question: After Hugh used Vol, did you get a "Didn't Work!" message, or did he just "miss"?

I'm not so sure. He was on level 20 so there's a chance he'd miss against Dark Force. But that said there's no way to tell because you don't see any messages of that sort in the fight. If I'd thought to save it closer by I would try again, but hey, it's a good boss fight so I'll maybe go back again later. :D
