Star Wars

Postby Silver_Surfer1 » Sat Apr 10, '10, 9:37 pm

Almost time for the 30th Birthday/Anniversary of " Star Wars " in a few months!

And, in honor of the celebration, a whole bunch of new toys will be available:

http://www.usatoday.com/life/movies/new ... 5_VA_N.htm

Can you believe it's been that long since we first saw a glimpse of Luke Skywalker, Hans Solo, Princess Leia, R2 D2, Yoda, Darth Vader, and all the rest?

Who was / is your favorite Star Wars character?

Which "Star Wars" movie is your favorite movie?

Do you have any of the older/original "Star Wars" toys?

Do you think you might buy any of these new toys, or go to the big birthday celebration?

Technically, Star Wars is already over 30. It's the second movie, Empire Strikes Back, that is about to hit the big three o. And no, it doesn't really seem like it's been that long for either one.

I still have a few of my old Star Wars toys from the original movies around somewhere in storage. I've been thinking about selling some of them on eBay actually, but I haven't looked into it much.

I can believe it, yes. The original movies are starting to show their age, due to advances in special effects, so they do feel a bit old to me. They haven't lost any of their magic yet, though.

Who was / is your favorite Star Wars character?
Luke Skywalker

Which "Star Wars" movie is your favorite movie?
The Empire Strikes Back

Do you have any of the older/original "Star Wars" toys?
I might have had a plush ewok. I wasn't into action toys, though.

Do you think you might buy any of these new toys, or go to the big birthday celebration?
My boys will probably want some of the toys. They love Star Wars, both the original movies and the Clone Wars TV show with the other characters. If the celebration was closer I might go, but Orlando is quite a drive for my family.

I would go there in a heartbeat but with Alis it would be rather hard, not to mention trying to take time off. The 501st has a command post [not sure what to call it] here and I've been tempted to take them up on their offer to join.

I will most likely buy the new toys just because it's Star Wars. :D

My favorite character....it's hard to decide on a favorite but if I had to pick only one it would be : Anakin Skywalker.

My favorite movie is all 6 of them, lol. I can't pick one over the other :D I also enjoy the Clone Wars TV show quite a bit and look forward to the DVR recording it each week [on 04-23-2010 they're going to focus on Boba Fett !!!]

Yes, what I can't believe is that another Toy Story movie is coming out soon.

Who was / is your favorite Star Wars character?
Yoda, R2D2, and Han Solo, in that order.

Which "Star Wars" movie is your favorite movie?
It's a toss up between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back

Do you have any of the older/original "Star Wars" toys?
No... But I do remember that my mom once put together a 3D puzzle of R2D2 which stood about 2 or 3 feet high (Or at least it seemed that tall) and there were something like 4 buttons for it to make sounds. It was awesome! Up until my dog ate >.>

Do you think you might buy any of these new toys, or go to the big birthday celebration?
Nah. I'd rather spend my money on video games... and there has only been one Star Wars video game I liked and it was on PSX. Don't remember the name though. T-T

Who was / is your favorite Star Wars character?
Han Solo

Which "Star Wars" movie is your favorite movie?
The Empire Strikes Back

Do you have any of the older/original "Star Wars" toys?
Yes, found few of the diecast minatures that had belonged to my sister. And have a ton of the Micro Machines and Lego stuff personally.

Do you think you might buy any of these new toys, or go to the big birthday celebration?
No. Not really collector of SW goods, like most folk I just have stuff from my youth.

There were only six SW games released on the PS Atlin, so it would have to be one of these to which you refer:
Star Wars: Dark Forces
Star Wars: Demolition
Star Wars: Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles
Star Wars: Episode 1: The Phantom Menace
Star Wars: Masters of Teras Kasi
Star Wars: Rebel Assault II

The Star Wars Clone Wars animation shorts from CN a few years back were quite good. Got to see the first few episodes of the CG series before we dropped satellite TV service and it seemed to be rather fantastic. Anyword on that long rumored live action series?

Great topic, Silver! 'Huge Star Wars fan here. :D

Can you believe it's been that long since we first saw a glimpse of Luke Skywalker, Hans Solo, Princess Leia, R2 D2, Yoda, Darth Vader, and all the rest?
It's hard to believe. Few movies have since lived up to its overall greatness; LOTR is the only film that comes to mind, really.

Who was / is your favorite Star Wars character?
I have several: R2D2 (probably my fave; he is so loyal, has a bit of attitude, and is always to the rescue), next would be Wicket (because he's just so cute and I want an Ewok of my own), Vader (he's the coolest Sith, hands down), Yoda (nobody fights like him) and lastly Leia and Padme, because they're super cool and tough chicks (girlPOWAH!)

Which "Star Wars" movie is your favorite movie?
The Empire Strikes Back -- the "I am your father!" revelation is just too awesome for words.

Do you have any of the older/original "Star Wars" toys?

Yes.

Do you think you might buy any of these new toys, or go to the big birthday celebration?
Probably not... although going to a Star Wars party sounds like fun!

I have another question: Which romance do you like better? Anakin/Padme or Leia/Han?
I think the Anakin/Padme romance was so cheesy to the extreme, so my vote goes to Leia/Han.

Anyone think they'll ever make another movie? I remember hearing that George Lucas had planned another trilogy, set after the original. I haven't heard anything about it in a long time, though.

A bit of news related to "Star Wars".

It seems George Lucas is none to pleased with a company selling Lasers which Lucas says look very similar to the lightsaber in the Star Wars movies, etc.

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.
