Veteran's Day

Postby Silver_Surfer1 » Mon Nov 10, '08, 10:25 pm

Tuesday, Nov. 11, is Veteran's Day. :usa:

Do you have a Veteran in your family?

Do you know a Veteran?

If so, please remember to tell these Veteran's " Thank You " for their service to our country.

They have given so much for us, it's the least we can do for them. :salute:

No living veterans left in my family. We had several people in World War II, but they've all passed on. May they rest in peace.

Same here. The Veterans in my family have almost all passed away also.

It is a shame that it seems almost a whole generation of folks have passed on. That's life, I guess.

Sometimes though I wonder what they would have thought of many things that are happening in the world today, and some of the priviledges and freedoms that we have today which they fought for in order that we could have them. Perhaps some of these freedoms and priviledges they never got to experience for themselves. :hmm:

With these new wars in Iraq and Afghanstan, and the previous Desert Storm war, etc., we have a whole new generation of Veterans.

May God Bless them all & their families.

Bumping this thread up another year as it is almost time once again to celebrate Veteran's Day for this year 2009.

Veteran's Day is on November 11, 2009. Some places may celebrate the weekend before or after as they do on some holidays. Check your calendars to be certain or for more information on this holiday.

Thank you to all Veterans for your service to your Country. :usa:

Just thinking a little about Veteran's on this Veteran's Day.

I think I heard not too long ago that a great many of the Veteran's from WW2 have now passed on and there are not that many of them still living.

There are many more Veteran's around though from other various wars including the recent Desert Shield/Desert Storm war and the ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

It is sad that there always seems to be a war somewhere. :(

Here's hoping that the Veteran's who are still living will all be honored and appreciated today (and every day) for their service. :usa:

As it is Veterans day it is also Remembrance Day. I am currently wearing a poppy just to show my signs of respect. :salute:

May all those who gave their lives rest in piece.
