Your Last Retro Game

Remembering the games of yesteryear.

Your Last Retro Game

Postby Thoul » Sun Oct 11, '09, 1:32 am

Most of us here have been gaming for years, but let's see how often we really play the oldies. What was the last retro game you bought or played? What system was it on? Come back and post again when you play another one, too.

For the purposes of this topic, "retro" will mean anything released more than five years ago.

The last retro game I bought was a PlayStation game called Eternal Eyes. I found it at a flea market a few weeks ago, still sealed. It's pretty rare to find a game in that condition at such a place.

Last retro game I bought...Earthbound for the SNES (released in the U.S. in 1995, good luck finding it today!). Last retro game I played...Earthbound for the SNES. :D
Next Pokemon game(s): Pearl
Last finished Pokémon game: Shield
Other games: Skyrim Special Edition (Switch), Spyro Reignited Trilogy (Switch & PS4), Okami (Switch & PS4)
Other gaming goals: completing a Living Pokedex (minus some event Pokes) and going through at least 1 game per generation

Does Retro Game Challenge for the DS count? There's a mini-RPG in there called Guadia Quest that I'd recommend for anyone who enjoys Dragon Warrior on the NES.

Otherwise, the last retro game I played was Final Fantasy VI Advance for the GBA. It might not be over five years old but it's a remake of something ~15 years old so I think it counts. I've been on something of a GBA RPG kick lately and am planning to start Kingdom Hearts on it before the end of the year.

I bought Eternal Eyes at a garage sale for $1 but haven't tried it yet - great deal to find it new!

Since it has Retro in the game, I think we have to count it.

I only paid $2.50 for Eternal Eyes, which is a steal. I haven't decided if I'm going to try it or just leave it sealed.

The last Retro game I bought was Resident Evil 2 for the N64. I got it for $15CAD. The last retro game I played, was RE2 or Super Mario World. I can't remember cause I played them both in the same day.

Purchased: Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine for the Virtual Console.

Played: Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine for the Virtual Console.

I love Retro games, but I haven't had a whole lot of time lately. In a couple of months, I should.

If the N64 counts as retro, then the most recent played would be F-Zero X on the Virtual Console. A lovely futuristic racer with an amazing amount of variety among the competitors. :)

The last retro game I bought was the Sega Master System version of Ecco the Dolphin for $8.00 AUD. It is a big deference when you play the Mega Drive one and then this one.

Well the last retro game I bought and played was Ys : Ancient Ys Vanished or Ys Book 1 & 2 on the DS. I have the original CD's for the Turbo Duo as well, but I find it easier right now to play on the DS[since it's portable]. I love Ys and thought this "remake" was well done. Before that I played Dragon Quest V on the DS and Dragon Quest VI on an emulator, of course right before that I was playing Phantasy Star II on my Xbox 360.
