Solo Challenge?

I am aware that people do attempt these, where you kill off all characters except for one and have them solo the game alone. I think it's kinda neat, though I've never tried it myself.

So, have any of you ever attempted this?

Not intentionally. The closest I've ever come is when I was doing one of the towers on Rykros. In the boss fight, everyone was killed off except for Wren. I was completely out of healing and teleport items, so I had to solo my way back out of the tower and to the Silence Temple with Wren.

I had a similar experience with Wren. While fighting Dark Force along the shore of the Soldier's Temple, as result of making some bad moves, all my party members ended up dying except for Wren. Wren can really hold his own in a fight.

I had a similar experience as well. I was fighting Zio in Nurvous. He used Hewn and killed everyone but Gryz. It was a difficult battle, but Gryz munched his way through shortcakes and eventually killed Zio. After the battle he discovered that he had become addicted to Dimate... Sorry Gryz.

i dont think you can actually finish any of the games solo. 1 player short is probably about the best you could do.

Almost every character in PSIII can finish the game (or their respective generation) solo. There's a giant thread detailing it over on GameFAQs. It's largely possible because:
1) The bosses are all really easy compared to the other PS games.
2) Technique stacking, especially Fanbi. I was able to defeat Dark Force with 1 character who was only equipped with a knife after casting Fanbi a dozen times (and Res a dozen more :) )

I 100% agree that it's impossible for the other 3 games in the series. A fully maxed-out Rolf might stand a chance in PSII but I think the odds are remote at best. Same for Alis in the original. As for PSIV, no way can a solo character get through the final bosses.

Rolf can solo PSII (assuming you let Shir steal the visiphone, for sanity's sake if there's no other way to save.) there's even a guide for it. I think Rudo could pull it off too but it would be a pain until you get one of the Gires casting items. I think a level 98 Chaz could take down the final bosses of PSIV on his own. Heck, I think most of the cast at Level 98 can do it alone.
