For this one, I'll limit the criteria down to characters whose best weapon is a heavy gun. This will eliminate the PSIII heroes for their use of Needlers, and the PSII men, Rolf and Hugh, since they can't go higher than lighter guns, a Sonic Gun, and Acid Shot respectively. That leaves us with Odin, Rudo, Kain(Laser Shot,) Wren PSIII, Wren PSIV, and Demi.

This one's a tough one for me, (avatar!) I'll eliminate Kain immediately because he lacks a brain capable of intelligible speech, and can't build; he can only destroy. So he's gone. And  for Demi; she was imprisoned by Zio. That's weak! I love Wren PSIII's versatility to transform, but he's as interesting as a brick wall in the couple of lines we get out of him. He might mindlessly follow any male Orakian for all I know.

To have a party without Rudo in PSII is just nuts. He's so powerful that he can beat the game by himself, but I don't like his purpose. It took a tragedy to get him motivated. Odin is the opposite, he didn't need a personal tragedy to get him out fighting for what is right, but finishes with less HP than EVERY character in PSI. So...

Wren PSIV gets my vote. He joins the cause to fix what has gone wrong, never deviates, (ah, logic!) and he is the lynch-pin of the party. He's got it all!

This is a tough one. I'm going with PSIV Wren too, although I think he made as big of a mistake as Demi did in getting caught. Wren locked himself away on Zelan with no means of leaving. If the other heroes hadn't gone to Zelan looking for the cause of the trouble, Wren would have been stranded there, helpless and with no way of fixing anything.

As for as combat ability goes, I love using his skills. How could anyone not like Burst Rocket and Positron Bolt?

Well, Wren wins this, Demi's a close second given how powerful the Phantasy Star IV cast is.

I think Amy deserves a mention at least, the Silent Shot can be useful since it's one less attack to worry about. Doing 148 damage as well to Neifirst is helpful.

:o WHAT??? The Silent Shot does that kind of damage to Neifirst??? Is that some kind of bug? I've played that game countless times and have never come across that one.

Anyway, I was saving Amy for a showdown with Raja for the devoted healer to keep characters limited to their essential characteristic.

That's a good point!

Well, I've seen the Silent Shot do 8 damage :bang: to Neifirst as well so I'm guessing there's quite a variance in the RNG. I consider Amy mainly a healer of course though.

PSIII Wren wins my vote! He's a walking powerhouse and very essential to the game with his ability to transform into various vehicles with parts. He's also great in battle, since his guns can knock down anything in the back row.

As for his seemingliy nonexistant character? I see him as a war machine that runs off both orders and logic. Though Wren does have his moments. Like when Azura was being destroyed, Wren's carrying Sean away so he can survive and live. Maybe I'm looking too deep into this. :D

Amy's shots were more like syringes to me. :eyebrow: Not sure exactly what they were, but I doubt her shots were like Rudo's guns.

Demi! :D So what if she was captured? Nobody else was able to make a stand against Zio without help, either. He probably cheated and used some of his flunkies to help him take her down, too.

PSIV Wren wins my vote, pretty much for all that has been said. And it is not like I am biased towards him, nope, not at all. =)

 That made my day! I can't imagine what would be worse than a OHKO Black Wave to be considered cheating!

:p :D

A OHKO Black Wave to the back while you're distracted by henchmen... that would be a pretty nasty thing to do.
