Ever resort to looking up maps?

In PSI, the dungeons have that 3D feel to them as you navigate the passages. Have you ever resorted to using maps or drawing them yourself, or did you go off memory? Heck, I am certain there's people who've just taken wild guesses. xD

As for myself, I'd memorize the maps. The only things that got me were the pits where you fell down, but other than that... :p

As for PSII-IV... Unlike PSI, they were completely 2D, so in my opinion there's no comparison in the difficulty since you have a general idea of where you are going at all times. ^_^ So did anyone have a hard time with those?

Admittedly, a few of the maps (chiefly PSII) were THAT difficult...namely one comes to mind, Ikuto on Dezo (the palace that was hidden until you received the aero-prism, it had the dungeon where you fell down holes...many many holes :faint:). That was the ONLY dungeon I had to look up. >_<

Also, if there is a thread like this already, then I was unaware. =D

For whatever reason, I have a difficult time getting through the Garuberk tower without taking at least ONE wrong turn. I just cannot get that place straight in my head...but somehow, I can get through the Air Castle pretty easily. I don't what it is about the Garuberk tower that throws me off, but something does every time. I find my way eventually, but I can never get through to the end on the first try without taking a wrong turn. I can say the same for Nurvus, though not as badly. Don't know why those two, but there it is.

For PSI, I usually use maps. It's easy to go in a circle without them. On the other games, I usually just wing it.

I get lost easily in Garuberk Tower, too. I remember the first time I played PSIV, I was completely turned around in there and go in circles. This was back when we didn't have maps for help, so I had to keep at it until I figured it out myself.

Baya Malay from PS 1 was the only dungeon that confused me and made me draw maps of it. In the Phanatsy Star series that is. As for how many maps I drew while playing Shining in the Darkness, that's another story.

I drew out my own maps for the most part. Baya Malay from PSI is still a nightmare for me everytime I play the game.

I did resort to using a map for PSII, which I still find to be the most complicated game in the series.

I actually got lost in PSIII one time so I had to resort to using a Map. Other then that I've just trecked through each game, most likely missing alot of stuff.

If only my art skills were good enough to draw a map worth looking at a second time. Typically I'd look at the game maps and once I was familiar with the area I'd wing it from there. There's been a few times I'd wing it and actually be right, but those were few and far between

I remember I had to draw a crude little line map for PSI. I remember that I got so frustrated bumping into dead ends that I got a crinkled piece of paper and drew the map onto that. As for the rest, I was too lazy to draw a map. I just got lost and crabbed about it when I bumped into a dead end.

My brother and I were almost always map/player's guide people. I think the only RPG that we didn't use a guide or so for was Phantasy Star IV (well, and Miracle Warriors, but then, that didn't have any maps for its dungeons (okay, and Grandia II). But for PSIII, D&D:WOTES, Xenosaga, and probably a few others, we always used maps.

Never while playing. I have already checked them out of curiosity, but never while playing.

By the way, for me the PSI maps are the easiest ones to learn. Well, it must be a strange mind :p
