The two Kara's

Postby Celeith » Wed Aug 13, '08, 10:18 pm

Ok we haven't had any serious discussion on the boards in months so I thought I'd bring up something from a oldie but goodie. As we know in PSIII there are two Kara's, one is a bloodthirsty fighter who hates her father Lune for being in the state that he's in. The other, a kind, beautiful princess that would most likely never harm even the most deadliest of monster if she had the choice. The majority of fans believe that the two Kara's are two seperate people. In a manner of speaking that is about half right but not the full truth. Sure they are two seperate people when it comes down to the way they grew up and the way their personalities are. But in fact they are one in the same. Warrior Kara grew up in waring times so its only natural that she would have a different facial tone as one of her nature would have to be tough in order to survive. Princess Kara grew up in a time of peace, so its natural that she would have such a peaceful look on her.But if you take the two and put them together, disregard that the Kara's are a warrior and a princess what do you get. The same individual, if you were to change warrior Kara's hair similar to princess Kara's and put them both in normal clothes, they would look like twins. So that is my conclusion on the two Kara matter. -Discuss

I tend to follow the "Thea is the mother of 'princess' Kara" theory to explain the differences. Your theory is hard to argue against though. It's simpler than assuming that Lune rescued and married Thea in the Nial timeline (although I hate to think of her being trapped in that dungeon forever).

That is a good theory about Thea being the mother of Princess Kara... it makes sense because Princess Kara has a green tint to her hair.

I do think they're two different people. Their hair colors are different, so maybe they had different mothers.

I would agree with Rune. I'd say because they have different hair colours and personalities they probably would have had a different mother.

This could also be a possibility but I stand firm by my opinion on them being the same person. The hair thing, that could be irrelevant considering the way the two were raised. For example, my hair is naturally a dark brown color, but when I stay inside to much it changes from a dark brown to a lightish brown color. The same could be said for the two Kara's as well. Princess Kara has always stayed in her home so therefore her hair could have lost its natural darkness, as with Warrior Kara who's hair was always a darker green but she was able to travel to different places thus getting her in the sun and keeping her hair its original color.

The hair color could also be explained just by genetics. If the two Karas were conceived at different times, even by the same parents, they would have different genetic codes. It's like two sisters - they may resemble each other, but they're not identical.

I like the different mother theory, but I'm not settled on Thea. It's a good theory, but my issue is with the timeframes involved. IIRC, Nial's adventure happens when he is 18 and Ayn's happens when he is 16. Assuming Siren attacks at the same time (which he might not, depending on whether the strength of Cille is different without Rhys as king), Thea should have been at Lune's moon by the time Nial got there. Yet, there's no trace of her at all.

So Siren's a cold blooded killer huh *which i pretty much knew with all the killing he did >.> *. I wonder what his battle would be like if the game was made in 3D and the battle dealt with the free run like the star oceans and tales of games have. Would be a awsome fight, Siren having a sinical howl in his voice as he fights the group.

There was a great page (called "The Thea Theories") that address a lot of these points.. unfortunately it appears to have vanished.

I stand corrected.. the site was archived here:
http://users.skynet.be/fa258499/beyondalgo/theory/

The very, very abridged version is that Ryan saved Thea and thus acquired the Twin's Ruby. Through some course of events Thea and Lune become a couple causing Ryan to turn on his fellow Layans by the time Nial arrives. I'm not really doing it justice so please read it for yourself.
