PSIII: Which ending is best?

Postby Thoul » Thu Jul 12, '07, 8:19 pm

Each of PSIII's four versions of the third generation has a different ending. One has the ship continuing through space. Another has them settling on a planet. In the third, they meet up with another ship, Neo Palm, and head for a nearby planet. The last ending sends through through a black hole to a past version of Earth. A lot of people believe that one leads into PSII's events.

Which of these endings do you think was the best one, and why?

My pick is meeting the other ship. In all the other versions, that ship is destroyed, leaving the Alisa III all alone as the last survivors of the fleet.

I went with the Earth ending. I like the idea that it can lead into Phantasy Star 2.

i've never beaten PS3 *goin through it now still on Rhys* but i've seen the endings and i perfer the ending that you get where u end up through the black hole and end up at earth. the only thing i don't like about it is that if they went to earth and dark force ended up destroyin earth and the earthmen came to algo then the loop would never end, thus earth being destroyed countless times in different dimensions or something and the destruction of palma which eventually leads to PS2 and then PS3 1000yrs later * 2000yrs later if you go with the japanese version* and thus creating a loop that will continue on forever.

Sean's ending, by a Nei Shot.

The Alisa III meet up with the Neo Palm, and its captain is all like "Hay guyz lets team up nxt time well zonk him 4 good". That, and I personally think Sean and Kara make a nice couple. =p

Interesting sidenote: The old COYA book for PSIII went Rhys/Ayn/Sean. I... guess that's as close to an official ending as I'm gonna get? (*Notices similarity to Dragon Warrior V, where all the side material pairs the Hero with Bianca*)

You know, as much as I like the "full circle" thing that the Earth ending has... it's kind of depressing for the people of the Alisa III. They go through all that trouble to continue on and escape the destruction of Palma, only to have their descendants unknowingly be the ones to destroy their home planet. :(

But... being a fan of crazy time-loop theories (and the fact that I've never actually gotten all the way through PSIII without savestates *shameshame*), I still pick that ending (Aron's, if I remember correctly?)

As much as I like the idea of the Aron ending making a possible PSII connection, I prefer the one where they meet the Neo Palm the best. It would be an amazing discovery to find another of the Worldships still trekking on through space 1000+ years after they were built. Surely the two of them would have a better chance to overcome a future calamity.

It's hard to pick for me, since I loved both Sean and Crys's endings. However, I really like the idea of the Alisa III finally reaching the end of their journey and settling on the new planet. :)

That's not to say that those are my favorite paths, though. My favorite 3rd generation character is Aron, Crys following as a close 2nd. Ironically, I hate Aron's ending the most, even if I love him so. :D The idea of them going back in time is something I strongly dislike, and anything else would've been a lot better, in my opinion.

I'm pretty sure that only happens in Nial's timeline. Since the disaster that occurs in Ayn's path is the explosion of Azura.

It makes sense, since logically Rhys would've married Maia and Ayn would've chosen Thea. However, I like all the pairings that are the least likely to happen.

Yeah, Rhys/Ayn/Sean is probably the most official, since that follows the pattern of the hero marrying the princess he was trying to rescue.

I'm pretty sure that only happens in Nial's timeline. Since the disaster that occurs in Ayn's path is the explosion of Azura.

Hm, yeah, maybe. It could happen in the other Ayn timeline too, but I guess we never see it if it does.

wait I think we got the characters names mixed up. I believe on Arons they see the black hole disappear and then head off to find a new home. And on Adan/Gwen they go through the black hole and reach earth.. I think we got the names mixed up or something Cuz i know the last characters are Sean,Crys,Aron,Adan/Gwen.

I wish the endings were like that. Sadly, Aron's the one who goes through the black hole, while Adan is the one who continues the journey through space.

Speaking of which, it'd make more sense for Adan to go through the black hole, in my opinion, since Gwyn predicts it...though I guess this is one of those "We can change the future!" things.
