i think someone should of took over the ship to land somewhere else. Or my second opinion is they should of teleported off the ship instead of fighting all the humans.

The ending was alright for me. It makes you wonder what actually happened and leads into so many idea's and theories on just one bit of a great game.

I used the idea of my fic I wrote. Most likely the star you see shooting across space at the end of the credits is a escape pod (that i used in my fic as well) that Shir and the rest escaped in while Rolf stayed behind to fight the leader of the earthmen, thus finding a way to destroy the large ship and saving algo from the earthmen.

"I wonder what we will see in the final days" (Rolf, PSII)

"There's no peace without sacrifice" (Ortega, DQIII)

There are similarities with PS2. Basically the hero dies, but... the sun rise once again (I'm not saying our PSII heroes died but it seems there's a traditional thing here and note that DQIII came before PSII).

The tradition continued through PSIV (again showing a "sunrised" Mota but browner this time)... and PS:gen2 (the remake) as well.

I was really never happy with not knowing for sure what happened. It's certainly a memorable ending, but it was kind of mean to leave us hanging like that too.

I was very satisfied with the ending, maybe the best I'd seen up until that point. If I had to create a list of "top 10 game endings" it would easily make the list, probably in the top 5.
