Which names did you like better.

In the gaming world we know most games and their characters have different names, such as Chaz / Rudy. In your opinion on Phantasy Star II which names did you like better. Oh btw somethings in this post won't be visable unless you have japanese language installed onto your comp..

Phantasy Star II, ファンタシースター II 還らざる時の終わりに , Fantashī Sutā Tsū Kaerazaru Toki no Owari ni

Rolf / Eusis (ユーシス)
Rudo / Rudger (ルドガー)
Amy / Anne (アンヌ)
Hugh / Huey (ヒューイ)
Anna / Amia (アーミア)
Josh / Kainz (カインズ)
Shir / Shilka (シルカ)

In my opinion it goes both ways for me, I perfer Eusis over Rolf, Rudo over Rudger, with Amy/Anne i like both so it doesnt matter to me. Hugh sounds better than Huey (sorry anyone named Huey). I like Amia over Anna, Josh / Kainz is alright both ways, and I like Shir over Shilka (even though Shir is my favorite PSII character) I perfer her english name over her japanese name.

Hmm.

Rolf = Eusis
Rudo > Rudger
Amy > Anne
Hugh > Huey
Anna < Amia
Josh > Kainz
Shir > Shilka

I prefer the english for the most part, though Amia just sounds prettier than Anna. And Eusis/Rolf...no opinion, both are alright.

Rolf or Eusis - I'm not real fond of either but I like Rolf slightly better.
Rudo or Rudger - I'll take Rudger, sounds tougher, more like a hunter.
Amy or Anne - About equal. I suppose I prefer the name Anne a little but not by much.
Hugh or Huey - Sorry, Huey is just an awful name.
Anna or Amia - Kinda the same feeling as the Amy vs. Anne debate, I prefer Anna a little.
Josh or Kainz - If it was just "Kain" I'd go with it, otherwise Josh wins.
Shir or Shilka - I also prefer Shir.

On a side note.. the first time I played I named Rolf "Hugh" (an equivalent of my own name) and didn't rename anyone else until the "other Hugh" showed up :) I was honestly surprised when I saw the name Hugh used for a character in a game. I didn't read the instruction book so I had no idea :o

I prefer the English names for all the PSII folks. Rudger is okay and not that different from Rudo/Rudolf, so I could live with that. The other names I just don't like at all. Especially Kainz, with that z on the end of it. It just doesn't seem like a real name at all.

Rolf < Eusis I've always hated the name Rolf, it sounds like something you would name someone without a mind. No offense.
Rudo > Rudger I think I would have trouble saying Rudger all the time.
Amy > Anne I like the long A sound more that the short one. lol
Hugh > Huey Huey sounds like a baby's name.
Anna = Amia I don't care much for either, I think Amia might win if i was forced to choose.
Josh - Kainz Hate both of the names, Josh I've always thought to be so, unsocializable, while Kainz sounds like they were bored and threw a Z in there.
Shir < Shilka Shilka sounds much more entertaining. "ashilka sana squash banana" lol
Everything has a pattern. Something set. Even random things. They aren't random at all, its complex mathematics. The trick is to find the pattern. Then you can exploit it.

People think things have a certain end. Taxes. Work. Due dates don't really exist. Trust me. When you put a band of world scholars in the same room, and set them on talking about anything, the most interesting topics come up. The existence of negative time. The probability of "random occurrence". The government's involvement in the media. And falsified due dates. They aren't real, trust me....

How about the Generation 2 names?

Rolf/Eusis= Usus
Rudo(lph)/Rudger = Rudoga
Amy/Anne= Annu
Hugh/Huey= Hyui
Anna/Amia= Ashia
Kain/Kainz= Kinds
Shir/Shilka= Shiruka

Most of them are more Japanese sounding to me.

Yes, those sound more like names I'd expect to see in a game from Japan. Ashia is pretty good, but I'd still go with Anna. Shiruka's not bad either, about the same as Shir. Aside from that, I'd still go with the English names.

Rolf/Eushys- I kinda prefer Rolf over Eushys because it's easier for me to pronounce/spell Rolf. SIdenote: The PSII fan comic uses both names for Rolf (Eushys as his last name. I still use "Rolf Landale.")

Nei/Nei: Umm... uh,..... pass? *sweatdrop*

Rudo(lph)/Rudoga/Rudger: Rudolph as his full, complete name, "Rudy" as his standard four-character Phantasy Star series status menu name. "Rudo" is just plain lazy romanization >_<

Amy/Anne: Amy. Definitely Amy. It's Hindi for either "beloved" or "friend," I'm not sure which. Either way, it suits her- she's my favorite PSII character, and definitely one of the people I'd bring with me in a fight.

Hugh/Huey: Yearrrgh. Hugh, but only slightly.

Anna/Amia: Not too sure, actually... Can I get back to her?

Kain/Kainz: Another yearrrrgh. .....Probably Kain, because he has that stupid accent in the US release.

Shir/Shilka/Shiruka: My preference is Shiruka. Don't know why.

Well, excuse me while I defy all laws of logic and common sense and do it anyway.
