"Hyuui" may look strange, but this is just the way they write "Huey", which is not unfamiliar to English speakers.

And don't underestimate a reader's ability to understand or get used to words they are not initially familiar with.

As I had said before, kids (at least in Mexico and Latin America) did not have problems using Japanese names in Mazinger Z.

Although (if memory allowed), I would have loved the UI of the PS games to show a description of what the spells do. Remembering (or discovering) that may even be more problematic than using the spell names.

I second that notion, with the exception of preference for Roman numerals.

Even PS II's Anna looks far more Zirski. And Amy Sage, while the surname speaks for itself with its arcane and mystical roots.

English names are best to me. Japanese names are good too.

I generally prefer the English names aside from Alis/Alisa, Alys/Lyla, and Noah/Lutz. I'm finding it kind of difficult to get used to the Japanese names in the PS Generation 2 translation, but that's more of a nitpick; as a whole, I'm having a blast with it.

With Neifirst, I can clearly tell that the name exists to distinguish who's speaking (And since I can't actually find her name in katakana I am going to assume she's called "Yami-Nei")

Rika just sounds dumb. Fal all the way. Were you guys going for "Erika"? Or just the literal romanization for the word "Science"?

Sierra. That's the japanese one. The patch uses "Xierra" for some dumb reason.

Al instead of "Aru". Seriously who the hell on the patch team saw that wasn't weird?

I mostly prefer the English names. I do like some Japanese names though.

One change I like is Rudy to Chaz. Rudy doesn't really sound that mature of a name (no offence if it is your name), while Chaz fits rather well with his design. If I was called "Rudy", I'd prefer to be called "Rudolph" (the full version of the name).

Fuin and Ruin have to be the weirdest names I've ever heard. Lyla and Anne sound nice though.

"Of course" I prefer japanese names and will always prefer BUT I don't dislike english one !
That were the first I've discovered so...
But since I've discovered the japanese versions, I tend to prefer those names... even if some of them are very strange, like Scootaloo has just said (about Fuin and Ruin !).
