I am not amused at how many heavy hits that area is taking...

It hardly seems fair.

Unfortunately that's how geography works...that's where hurricanes happen and if you're located there, on some level, it is a risk that you have to live with. If anything, as a collective we should be working to help these areas better cope when they're hit with infrastructure improvements, because hurricanes are not just going to stop on their own.

True that it's how geography works...alas again... In all those regions there is this risk and you must be aware of it before...

This has been a very rough hurricane season. Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico, and more places have been almost literally destroyed and taken the brunt of all this. It is very sad. Help has been needed, and received in many ways and places, but still so much more is needed, and probably will be needed for such a long time.

Have already read about a lady that passed away from getting the flesh eating bacteria disease from cleaning a home in flood waters in Texas, I think it was. That is scary. Especially considering there are so many damaged homes, etc. This on top of all the other fatalities and injuries these hurricanes have brought.

Will be glad when this hurricane season is over.

Hurricane season officially ends on November 1 as after that date, tropical water in the northern hemisphere is generally too cold to develop/sustain storms. But hurricanes can still happen (rarely) after that time. And then it becomes hurricane season in the southern hemisphere, though in the south they go by different names - tropical cyclone, typhoon, etc. Sandy happened at the ever end of the season 5 years ago.
