Techs in PSIII

Postby Celeith » Thu Dec 27, '07, 11:18 pm

The majority of us who enjoyed PSIII know that the only time techs are really useful are in the first generation by Lyle. After that techs seem to lose their usefulness, if PSIII ever did get a remake who here would enjoy to have the techs usefulness increased for each generation?

I don't know, I always found the techs extremely helpful in some situations.
Everything has a pattern. Something set. Even random things. They aren't random at all, its complex mathematics. The trick is to find the pattern. Then you can exploit it.

People think things have a certain end. Taxes. Work. Due dates don't really exist. Trust me. When you put a band of world scholars in the same room, and set them on talking about anything, the most interesting topics come up. The existence of negative time. The probability of "random occurrence". The government's involvement in the media. And falsified due dates. They aren't real, trust me....

Lyle used Melee techs.

Anyhow, I do think that the problem is that the techs don't need to be more useful as time goes on, but they just need to have a makeover altogether. Some Order techs are useful (Fanbi for boosting attack), and all the Heal techs always come in handy. But Time...eh, I never use it. But as far as Melee goes, it's useful at certain points in the game, as it mostly depends on who you're using for that.

As innovative as the technique distribution system was, I would drop that from the game altogether. It could make one tech really useful, but sacrificing the power of other techs makes combat more stale because you're always using the same commands over and over again.
