Have you played any of the side games?

So, have you played any of the classic games aside from the main four? There's PS Gaiden, PS Adventure, and the PSII text adventures.

Out of those, I've really only played PS Adventure. I messed around with some of the text adventures once, but didn't get very far into them. I couldn't ready any of the Japanese text, and those games seemed to be nothing but that. I was expecting them to be very much like PS Adventure, but to my surprise Adventure had a lot more graphics to it .

One of these days, I might try the fan translation of Gaiden.

I played a little of Phantasy Star Gaiden once, I think. I haven't even seen the text adventures, if you mean the PS2 side stories. I probably wouldn't play them any way. I don't like text adventure games.

I've played Gaiden all the way through thanks to a wonderful English translation patch. That one is pretty strange as everyone can have any magic and equip any weapon, and the encounter rate is absolutely horrendous. Despite loving the series, I can't recommend it.

Really? I thought Gaiden was a pretty fun game. Simplistic to a fault and nothing that can stand up to the main series, but it still managed to be a fun, colorful game.

Adventure's the one I've never cared for. It has some damn catchy music, but that's the only saving grace it has.

I can't remember which one it was but I found a english patch and messed around on the game for a bit. I then quit and never played it again.
