Mario and PETA

Postby Silver_Surfer1 » Tue Nov 15, '11, 1:58 am

PETA (People For Ethical Treatment Of Animals) seems to have it in for Mario in the new game "Super Mario 3D Land" because of a "furry" type suit featured in the game:

Oh well, you have to admit these folks sure have a way of getting attention for their cause.

What does everyone think of this?

The Tanooki-suit has been around since SMB3 which was released in 1990 if I’m not mistaken, so it's not new, or shockingly new as this group seem to be acting. I think it’s ridiculous to accuse a fictional character of slaughtering an animal for this suit when clearly it’s an animal themed power-up. No harm at all was meant by it, the PETA seemed to have blown it way out of proportion in my honest opinion.

PETA is still up to their old tricks, huh? If this group put their money into actually helping animals instead of capitalizing on the successes of other businesses, their cause might actually get something accomplished. As it is, I wonder if PETA does anything other than try to ride the coat tails of others for profit.

Here's the follow up on the story with Nintendo's response, I haven't read it yet but I'm going to.
