I have decided to allow members to change their own usernames, on a trial basis. If you wish to use this ability, you can change your username in your User Control Panel under the "Profile" tab and "Edit account settings."

Members must make at least 5 posts before they can change their username. Please note that when your username is changed, a record of the change is automatically created. This allows the site's staff to be aware of such changes, so that we know who everyone is or isn't.

Please don't abuse this ability to impersonate others or such. I can disable this ability at any time, hence it's on a trial basis. If it works out well, we'll keep it - if it is abused too often, I will turn it off.

Thanks,
Thoul

With people who will change their names, is there a way to see past aliases so we can keep a track of who is who? Even if it's only what their original username is. (For example mine was originally Trenzer so have something somewhere in my profile say Trenzer)

Yes that would be great ! It's sometimes hard to remember what was all those "old" names for the members here.

Cool feature Thoul. I like it. I tested it out and it seemed to work okay. If you need me to test anything out let me know.

I'm glad you're enjoying this feature. :)

Not at the moment. There is a log of these changes, but it's not displayed anywhere convenient at the moment. Only moderators and above can see the log at this time, but it's kinda of out of the way even for us. I may see about making something more useful in this area if time permits in the future.
