It may be a go for this 3rd installment of the "Transformers" movies, but it sounds still a little premature as yet.

Until then it looks like we'll just have to be satisfied with Transformers 2 (Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen) which hits theatres this summer (June 24).

Yeah, it's a little early for that. I guess they were probably always planning to do a trilogy, but they could at least see if they're going to have the director and cast back first.

I imagine they'll do like that did with Pirates of the Carribbean

I thought they only made sequels to movies that were good.

Nope, only the ones that make a lot of money or sell a lot of toys.

Wasn't quite sure where to put this news about the "Transformer 2" opening, so thought I'd put it here in this topic since it is related somewhat.

Anyway, it looks like "Transformers 2-Revenge Of The Fallen" had a very good opening:

This makes me wonder if they are going to beat the movie into the ground to the point where it's no longer relevant or good :/
Granted, I do want to see the second one. I thought for what it was, the first one was pretty awesome. But I suppose if they are going to do a third one, it's good to do it while it's still fresh in your head.

A little controversy brewing regarding two robots in the latest Transformers movie:

So, is this a racial issue, or not? What do you think?

The truest thing I have read in quite some time. As a huge fan of the Transformers cartoon and toys growing up, I can still say that the movies have been complete rubbish. Not only do they largely fail to recapture the magic of the cartoons, but they seem tailor made for the dregs and hipsters, much like that awful Speed Racer movie from last year. And here, I had silently hoped that the Transformers movies would be made for more reasons than just shifting ticket sales, but no... :(

Having seen the movie yesterday, I think that article is blowing it out of proportion. The characters do seem like walking stereotypes, but that line about not being able to read? They couldn't read a dead language that likely hadn't been used since the pyramids in Egypt were built. I think that can be forgiven! However, I would have been just as happy if those characters weren't in the movie. Some more established Transformers characters could have been used in their place and it would have been more enjoyable.

Yeah... if they didn't have Peter Cullen for Optimus' voice, I probably would have passed on the first one entirely. I found it enjoyable once I got past the fact that most of the robots look like piles of scrap. The second one, while it makes a good action flick, has the most unnecessary crude humor and out of character representations I've ever seen. Optimus and Megatron were very badly written in this one. All the forced, unnatural feeling attempts at catchphrases in the climax really annoyed me, too.
