The weapon shop owner in PSII

Is it just me, or does this guy come off as a total jerk? I mean, after you pick a weapon, he's like "Okay, which of you lugs is gonna hold it?", and when you leave the shop he says "Use it or lose it!" and "Later, Ace!". Gives me the impression that he's just an all out jerk who's no fun to be around.
