<sniff>
That's where I got my start at.
http://www.geocities.com/game_player_s/

I just checked and they have not yet locked in an closure date. They just say "later this year" and to check back in the summer for more details. Well, it's officially summer as of today I think.

If you wish to save any of the GeoCities websites for archival purposes then you will need a spider program, such as my personnal favorite: http://www.httrack.com/

Spidering Geocities sites is sadly not a straightforward proceedure due to the hourly data limit caps. If a site is more than 2MB it really throws a curve ball into the whole process.... you know what....

For anyone not interested in attempting to archive a GeoCities site themselves, I'm experienced with doing this. So, start posting the links of all of the GeoCities websites that you don't want to loose forever and I'll start working on backing them up later on. Since they're 10MB or less each they should zip easily and then I can just e-mail them out to whoever wants/requested themonce they're archived.

I haven't found any that I really felt were worth archiving yet. :(

That's okay, when/if you or anyone else finds one to be archived I'll be here. Right now I'm working on archiving PSO related sites, finding some really interesting ones I never knew existed too.

I'm losing my small site when geocities close. It's nothing but just a few facts and stuff thrown together and I don't know if I will even try and keep it or not. Nothing about Phantasy Star either. Still, it will be sad to lose it and all the other stuff found on geocities sites. There are so many of them that will soon be gone for good.

I read the other day that October 26th will be the last day:
http://stuff.techwhack.com/6935-geocities-2

I already archived all the Phantasy Star III ones regardless of quality:
http://ps3.huguesjohnson.com/rever/ - if you can find any I missed please let me know before they're gone.

That does look like a nice, in depth site. But yeah, I was meaning Phantasy Star stuff when I said that.

Great minds must think alike - that is literally the only site I archived that wasn't about Phantasy Star.

I don't want to get in trouble for talking about non-PS items in this forum  so I'll bring the two together.. the 32X is one of the few systems with absolutely zero RPGs. I wonder if a Phantasy Star game could have saved it from oblivion?

It definitely would have helped, but I doubt Phantasy Star alone could have made the vital difference for the 32X. It would have needed some excellent third party support as well.

32X was doomed day one. Every single launch model had to be recalled because of the defect that rendered most of them paper weights out of the box. It didn't help anything that most of the retailers were unwilling to ship back the defective units and tried to make the consumers deal directly with Sega.
