Yahoo! is finally killing off GeoCities, home to thousands of tacky sites created in the late 90s to early 00s. I ran a quick search to see which Phantasy Star sites will be lost in the process:

Trinixx's Dezo last updated 5/4/2004
Contains a very verbose walkthrough for PSII.

Legit Phantasy Star Online Club last updated 3/9/2002
As opposed to all the illegitimate ones. Nice color scheme though.

Phantasy IV Guide last updated 5/25/2000
Someone apparently likes the default PowerPoint theme.

Phantasy Star review
According to this review, Phantasy Star is "THE GREATEST RPG EVER INCEPTED!!! ". Don't worry about the terrible spelling and grammar. The author put it an an editable textarea so you're free to correct it.

SHACK'S FANFIC CLEARINGHOUSE last updated 7/3/2006
I'll be kind because it almost has a link to my PSIII site.

phantasy star online
WARNING: May cause severe eye damage.

Phantasy Star IV MIDI
I'm sure these are available elsewhere, if not, get 'em while you can.

The search I used was "site:geocities.com phantasy star" - any other "gems" like these you can find before they're gone?

this guy really likes to grind, has some really good info tho for replayers.

...he never beat NieFirst with just Nei? Nei dies anyways of course but how could he not ever of tried it?

he claims there is a hidden shotgun early on ~ never heard of that.

its a decent read

Fringes of Algo actually started on GeoCities, but I moved it off of there a long, long time ago to get PHP support.

I may have to save some of the GeoCities PS sites and archive them here, if any are worth keeping around.

Oh My Goodness!!!!!!!! :yikes: If you just heard a thud, it was me hitting the floor!!! :yell: This is a total shock to me. I have had a free site on Geocities for over ten years. Nothing to do with PS, just a homepage type thing with some subjects of interest. Guess it will be coming down now, or gone soon from what I just read on Yahoo. I just haven't had any desire to update it for a few years or anything since Yahoo put those crummy ads on it anyway. :x Time for a change I guess, and it seems I just got pushed into it. :yaknow: Makes me very sad, though to see it all end this way, and a little angry too. :fiery:

I'm kinda bummed out now. I have a few sites on geocities that I use to store images and stuff, only cuz I dont like uploading stuff on alot of the sites due to major errors. So I'm gonna lose alot of my stuff. Ehh oh well, its not like geocities was any good anyways.

Does that mean you're really really fat? =P Just kidding.

But seriously, it kind of sucks that all those geocities pages are getting killed off. I had one I think, but I never use it. I have a freewebs page (Now called Webs) and a Weebly page, but that's about it.

I backed-up anything I could find that was PSIII related (even the lame walkthrough that stops at "Neal's" generation). I've got an idea for a gallery on my site where I'll post them once the plug is officially pulled on Geocities.

I also had a Geocities page at one point.. although it was just as a mirror site.. the whole "mirror site" idea seems so antiquated now. Another antiquated thing I see on a lot of these old pages are web rings. Maybe they would have worked if anyone bothered to keep them up to date and remove dead links.

Ah, web rings. Those were a good way to kill time back in the day. They could still be pretty good, but like you said, no one put in the time to maintain them.

That is too bad ;_; but there are still excellent sites around. PScave and Phantasy-Star.net are excellent sites to visit.
