I was in episodes 50 (Dragon Quest) and 53 (Tokyo Game Show). I called in for the first one, but we did the TGS podcast together in Tokyo.

I remember the TGS one - it was a good discussion. It would be a shame if the Retronauts is canned because I can't think of any other decent retro-gaming podcasts.

This news saddens me. I remember when I was a teenage kid and I ran to the mailbox after school every day to see if EGM (or NP) came in the mail. One of the highlights of my middle/high school years. ;D Goodnight EGM, it's been a nice run...

Aye, this is very sad news to hear. I always liked EGM. It used to be one of the gaming magazines that we purchased and enjoyed looking at. So sad to hear that it has come down to this.

I think a lot of magazines and newspapers (whatever the subject matter) are having to deal with downsizing and closure issues such as this too because of the bad economy and other reasons as well.

It is also an unfortunate factor that I'm sure the age of technology and computer use has probably contributed to paper print magazines, etc., losing viewing, etc. So many people find what they want on the world wide web these days instead of opting for paper print instead. I count myself in that group also, from time to time. Although I still buy and prefer to have paper print when available.

EGM has given video game fans many wonderful memories, though, and even more so if you happen to have any or all of their magazine issues. I would imagine those issues are being highly sought after now and will one day be even more of a collectible item than they are right now and have always been.

This certainly makes me sad due to the fact I looked forward to having a magazine to read for all the latest reviews and news on upcoming games. I hope someone else will step up to the plate to cover this.

Looks like the Retronauts podcast survived at least: http://www.1up.com/1upblogs/3/... and they're looking for EGM memories for their next episode.

Woo-hoo! My boyfriend and I are listening to the podcast tonight, as he and I are both Earthbound/Mother fans. I'm glad Retronauts wasn't axed.
