The Dark Knight Rises

Postby Thoul » Thu Oct 28, '10, 12:58 am

Christopher Nolan, director of the last two Batman movies, has now announced the name of the third part of his trilogy: The Dark Knight Rises. He also also confirmed that neither the Riddler or Mr. Freeze will be the villain of the new movie. He has also revealed that the movie won't be 3D.

From the title, it sounds like the movie will be about Batman rising to the status of Gotham's hero. Who do you think the villain might be, now that these two have been eliminated?

Sounds like a good title. Interesting news about the villian. Kinda surprising they aren't going with The Riddler. I think they have already said The Joker won't be in this one as well. I wonder if they are going for a known villian or someone completely new and unheard of before?? Personally, I hope Catwoman shows up somewhere! They need a female villian and it would be nice to see Batman with a female competitior/romance.

I'd like to see Talia and Harley in a film and considering that the former is the daughter of the villain from BATMAN BEGINS and the latter is associated with the villain from THE DARK KNIGHT, it'd work.
*H-Man as Chaz, looks at Rika, aka Paula* Chaz-Man- "Hey, I've been wandering around Motavia for quite a while with you now. It says in that weird blue box up there that one more battle with a sandworm and we can level up to husband and wife!"

Why do they need a female villain? Are people hungry? Is there a sandwich shortage?

Nolan wants to avoid having super powers in the movie, which doesn't leave many male villains to choose. There's Penguin, but that's about it for well known villains.

Talia would make a great choice, especially with the connection to Begins. That could create "full circle" element to the story.

Sad to hear that Riddler and Mr Freeze won't be in it. IIRC Nolan said that Penguin won't appear either since he thinks The Penguin is difficult to potray on film. Not many other male villians to think of except for Sin Tzu (who sadly never caught on), Black Mask, or Man Bat. As for a female villain, my guess would be Catwoman or Talia. Poison Ivy seems unlikely IMHO, mostly because of *cough* Batman & Robin *cough*.

I would like to have the Riddler in this film because he's one of my favorite vilain. I think maybe of the Penguin... I really dont know what will happen with this film. I'm a big fan of the Batman universe, I can`'t wait to see this movie :hyper: ^^

Well, the news is going around now that Warner Bros. made a press release confirming the casting of Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle and Tom Hardy as Bane. Selina Kyle is better known as Catwoman, but apparently the name Catwoman was never used, so she may not be in costume. Any thoughts on this?

Maybe she can play another female vilain like Poison Ivy?
