Masters Of The Universe

There's lots to talk about on the smaller screen.

Masters Of The Universe

Anyone remember the old classic TV cartoons "Masters Of The Universe"? It featured the stories of Prince Adam (and his altar ego, He-Man), Man-At-Arms and his daughter Teela, along with enemy, Skeletor, and his many hench men, plus The Sorceress, and others?

I saw this article on "MOTU" and thought some one might enjoy reading it as I did. It brings back lots of memories:

My favorite on the show was always Battle Cat!!

Nice read! I actually like Orko. My favorite was Man-E-Faces!!
All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.

I used to love this show. In fact, my first words were "HE-MAN!", complete with a dramatic pause. I was apparently pretty slow to talk, and I chose my words carefully. (I'm sure they weren't literally my first words, but it's the first thing my Mom really remembers me saying, which is pretty awesome).

Heh, yeah, I was a HUGE fan as a kid. Couldn't get enough of it. I had every figure they made, up until the feature film came out. If I remember right, the first toy I ever picked out for myself was a Skeletor figure (and from the first wave of figures, which was before the cartoon started I think, at that).

One of my favorite things was the little comic books that came with each figure. I still have all of those tucked away where I can get to them easily. That added a lot of fun to them, creating a nice set of backstories for each character. World Building at its finest, until it got convoluted with multiple canon reboots. Fun fact: the first reboot? The cartoon. Before it aired, all the characters had a totally different origin and Prince Adam did not exist. He-Man was just He-Man (and essentially a Conan copy).

I've picked up a few of the multi-episode DVDs I've seen around for a low price in the past years, too. The show holds up better than I expected - granted, there's some cheese there, but it's still good.

Heh, there's a whole untold story about how He-Man was conceived/created. My dad used to be one of Mattel's top sales rep in the eighties and he lived through He-Man's golden age, sold a looooooooot of them. I remember, he used to take me to his office in Montreal an brought me to the He-Man showroom thet had to impress the customers. The entrance of the room was a door like Castle Greyskull and there were He-Man toys EVERYWHERE. Needless to say, I was in kid heaven. I had so many at home too!

Also: the article was great and put a huge smile on my lips! Thanks SS1! Now I need to watch all my He-Man cartoons again!

Was watching a tv program the other night and just happened to see a commercial with the He-Man gang from "The Masters Of The Universe" tv cartoon show featured in a Geicko Commercial. It was fantastic seeing them all again. Really made me feel happy and gave me a laugh.

Looked it up and saw this online:

This commercial is a bit strange, but it's great ! Sure that the animation isn't at a top level but that is cool indeed :)
