I just found out that today was "Sweetest Day". Since it is not a real holiday, and seemed to be about eating, I thought I would post this here:

Shucks, I wish I knew it was "Sweetest Day" when I was in town earlier today, I could have gotten some chocolate candy and not felt guilty about it with all those calories. I mean if it's a special day and all, lol. :lol:

So, did anyone celebrate "Sweetest Day" and if so, what kind of chocolate did you (or would you) have eaten?

I have to say, that's one of the silliest things I've heard yet. I can see candy manufacturers making up such a holiday, but they certainly picked an odd time of year for it. After all, when does candy sell better than in October, the month with a holiday already deeply associated with giving away candy?

I’m truly amazed at how many different holidays are celebrated in the US in Australia we only have like 4 or 5 special days over here. With ANZAC day being the one I respect the most.

Technically it’s not really a celebration but rather a commemoration, which all the Australians and New Zealanders pay, respects to all the soldiers who lost their lives in the world wars. It was because of these men and women Australia is the free country it is today. ANZAC day is probably the biggest holiday in Australia it even surpasses Christmas and Australia Day within most Aussie families. :wink:

That's awesome. Sounds similar to Memorial Day here in the states. Pardon my ignorance on this subject, Lucas, I honestly had no idea.

Interesting holiday, Lucas! And one truly deserving of the honor.

Sometimes I think we have too many holidays or days we celebrate various stuff for here in the US, but then everyone loves a celebration of sorts, I guess. I think they have a special day for almost every day now. If one can only keep up with it. :wink:
