That's one of the most unusual things I've ever heard. Plucking swans out of the river every year to see how many there are? It just strikes me as strange. I guess it's a local tradition that people enjoy, though.
Wonder how the swans feel, especially since swans are notoriously nasty when you get close to them.

Hey, that's right. Swans are the ones that tend to attack people who get too close, right? Maybe they're more peaceful on the water. I bet these guys have to wear some good protective clothing to do this in any case.
Swans and geese can be nasty. It might help it's past the breeding season so they might be less defensive, unless they still have young to protect.
