Twitch plays Pokemon!

I imagine some of you have heard of this, but I still have to make a post about it because it's entertaining and fascinating. Twitch is engaged, right now, in playing through the original Pokemon game (red version), in a live stream in which all logged in users can input controls via the chat. For the most part, it runs in 'anarchy' mode to create commands through the collective wisdom of the users, but users can vote for 'democracy' mode, which goes by majority rule, but they need a 75% vote to do that. NPR's tech blog did a piece about it this week. It's truly fascinating…because they are making progress! It is slow, but the collective wisdom of Twitch has gotten 5 badges as of this posting. We're watching it right now.

I've been watching this off and on since I heard about it awhile ago. This is literally everywhere. It's actually really amusing though kind of sad, considering I think they got farther than me in Pokemon Red. Then again I lost my copy oh so many years ago.
A simple text based signature? That's impossible!

Very strange thing but very fuinny ! I've never played the original pokémon but that's a great idea ! Have fun "chatting" it !

Well, somehow, they did it. 400 hours of Pokémon by 100,000 people with dubious intent on winning, and they did it.

The fact that they managed to do it at all is pretty awesome. We watched a bit of crystal and I like the new mechanic of how it manages the anarchy/democracy modes.

Platinum is going on right now. It is...wonderful. We should stop picking the Fire starter though, for all fire starters must be fed to the omnipotent PC. It hungers.
