Canada tells pennies goodbye!

A shocking thought, but Canada will soon be getting rid of their pennies and saying no more to the 1 cent coin.

I always have more pennies than anything else. I wouldn't know what to do without them. And, it is supposed to be lucky if you find a penny anywhere....found one just today, and I did win a couple dollars on the lottery tonight... :2c:

With rising inflation, I suppose it's only a matter of time before pennies cease to be produced everywhere. I mean, who ever uses them to pay for things these days? It's rare to have exact change including pennies, so I imagine most people just pay with paper bills and receive change most of the time. It will save money for governments, too. Supposedly, it costs 2.41 cents to make a US coin used for one cent. When it costs more to print money than the money is actually worth, it's time to reevaluate the approach.

Anyone who collects coins may want to start hanging on to a few pennies from each year. A few years down the road, they might be worth something as collectors' items.

I guess this is official now that the Canadian Penny is no more to be produced:

Gonna have to take even better care of the few canadian penny coins that I have now as one day they may be worth something or atleast a nice symbol to treasure for old times sake.

Ha, I missed the google honor to the canadian penny, but here's a bit about that:

The end of something is always a bit sad :( But you're right, better keep some in case they are going to become searched ;)
