Another great Sega series - Shining Force

Do we have any Shining Force fans around? This was another excellent series produced around the same time as Phantasy Star. It was my introduction to strategy based video games and I really enjoyed it. The variety of characters and being able to choose your army were both great features.

OH YES! There is nothing that has given me such fond memories such as Shining Force 2. One of my absolute favorite games, hands down. It's been more than a year since I've last played 2, but I still hum some of the songs to myself to this day. Shining Force 1 is also a very good game that I absolutely love.

Sadly, Shining Force Neo hasn't been as good a game as it's predecessors. I don't say this out of spite of the change in the style, but rather that it just doesn't have the classic feel as 1 and 2 had. Still enjoyable in its own right, though.

Yeah, that's a great set of games. I like Shining Force 2 the most. It used to be one of my favorites also, though I haven't played it in a few years.

Was it just me, or did Shining Force 1 seem much smaller than 2 in comparison? Maybe my perception of it was just skewed because I played SF 2 first.

I didn't play Neo... it didn't hear about it until well after it had been out. From the reviews I read, it sounded like it was lacking that great "Shining Force" touch.

Was SF 1 remade on the Game Boy a year or two ago? I wonder if that was a good take on it.

Shining Force 2 was a longer game, but that should be expected since it was #2. Of course they'd take all the good things from the first one and make them bigger. :P

I've finished SF1 about a week ago. What can I say. It's a great game! I was amamzed by it! Still can't forget my fight with Mishaela, it was the hardest battle for me :D Now I want to play SF2 and SF3.
And that's a pity that now Shining series is a bunch of stupid action games :(
Please, excuse my terrible grammar! =)

Yeah, that is sad. I saw a new one in Walmart recently, called Shining Force Exa. I haven't looked into it, but I bet it's an action game, too. We need another good strategy game in this series.

I never got to play SF3, since it was on the Saturn. I always wanted to try it, but I never got a Saturn.

Isn't Shining Force 3 the game that was released in three parts, with only the first being translated to English?

Is Shining Force anything to do with the GBA game Shining Soul?

Sharline, yes, Shining Soul is one of Shining games. As far as I remember, it was second action game in Shining series. Also there are Shinig Wisdom, Shining Soul 2, Shining Tears, Shining Force Neo and Shining Force Exa that are action games.

Thoul, yes, Shinig Force 3 was released in three parts and only first part was translated in English. But there is group of people that translate another two parts. They nearly completed Scenario 2.
