Interesting conjecture, Rick. One could also argue that evil can't truly be defeated, so the defeat of the Profound Darkness wasn't the end of all the evil in the world.

I don't see a lot of difference between the English and Japanese script, but it seems you're right about Dark Force making it to Earth and that's how Earth was destroyed. Peculiar, indeed.

Personally, I think that Phantasy Star II could be rewritten so that it doesn't contain Dark Force at all. Dark Force is actually the least interesting aspect of PSII. It's Mother Brain and the earthling rule that make it such a brilliant game and story.

Could you post a link to this translated script? I'd like to read it all, since I'm working on several stories involving PSII. Thanks!

Sorry, wouldn't know anything about those characters, so I'll take your word for it. Never played the game. I chose my name after the Phoenician goddess.

You should look up Titania from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn.

She's one awesome warrior on a horse.

Here you go:

http://www.phantasy-star.net/psii/ps2jtrans.html

that is the exact script Naflign had on his page. What is odd is.. You can't find that link on the main Phantasy-star.net Ps 2 section.. So it seems to be a leftover link.

So copy the text before it goes away!

Thanks, Rick! I'll be copying that over to my computer for future reference. :)

Welcome. There is so much left out of english ps 2.

Especially the part about DARUM being the one who tried to kill Nei.

Climatrol is also different I think.

That's in the English version. Rolf says something like, "I remember him! He tried to kill Nei seven months ago. Let's go back for now."

At the moment I don't remember what was said about Climatrol. You can still visit it once you complete it, though.

Oh wow. I've played PS 2 so many times and I never entered that tunnel until I rescued his daughter XD

I never saw that line! Oh wow.. Welp I was wrong my dear Tanith :D

Hee. I'm not remembering the line exactly, but yeah, you actually have to visit Darum at the bridge to know he had already tried to kill Nei. I can't recall how many times I've played the game, but let's just say it's a lot. It's my absolute favorite video game EVAH.

My favorite line (and one you have to hunt for) from the English version is when you try to "TOSS" Tiem. It goes: "It's not a good idea to throw Tiem away." Bwahaha! Really? Ya think?

Haha.. Once more proof that women are possessions in Algo and Phantasy Star!

Remember, Nei is looked at badly because she "DOESN'T HAVE A JOB"

It brings about all sorts of jokes about Rolf having to buy a maid to take care of his lazy sister and balls of string to distract her xd

My favorite is my hacked version of PS 3 which puts the gen 3 chars in Cille and watching a empty city then you enter a house and come out and people call you AYN.

I mean what in the name of the PD... What happens if you hack Rhys into Lashute or Draconia? XD

OK, I think I have a new question about something strange within Phantasy Star.

Did the people of Earth ever inhabit the worlds of Algo? It seems they just controlled it from their spaceship for hundreds of years. How odd. So... all of what's left of Earth's people are aboard Noah, or did they send some down to mingle with the Palmans? They say they're the "last of their bloodline" or something like that, but maybe they mean pure-blooded earthlings?

Let's see..

A spaceship with everything you could ever want, food, clothing, entertainment.. A ship you live in for generations..

Versus going to a alien planet and making an effort to mingle in and adopt and grow there..

People in the worldships were content to stay.

I think the majority got used to Noah and wanted to stay.

Maybe a few did go down to Mota and thus we have ZIO who could be a Earthman descendant with his outfit and Dark Force loving him :D
